I want to try this restaurant in September but I'm slightly worried that there won't be anything on the menu for my wife. Fish doesn't agree with her and I'd rather avoid a night of listening to 'oh god I feel sick' and ' i feel like i need to do a big burp' and 'can we go back to the villa coz i need to lay down'. So can anyone tell me if there are a few meat options on the menu. Thanks in advance for any info.

I go quite often and don't like fish either - you are a bit limited on the starters (but the tomato soup is pretty good) - Main course choice of very good steak, chicken piri-piri and I think they also do a chicken/vegetable kebab. Ialways manage to eat well and it is the one place the fillet steak eater has the lowest bill!

I think they offer rabbit if you give them 24 hrs notice.

Not massive selection of meat dishes but do offer steaks, pork kebabs, chicken piri or piri or seagull as the waiters like to call it. If you phone 24 hours in advance they will cook lamb for you. For starters,soup of the day is always vegetable and the mushrooms are a big favorite for my very fussy son.

Thanks for the replies. My missus is ok with shellfish. Is there plenty of this on the menu also?

That's good news. We'll definitely give it a try in september. Is there outside seating and if so how long in advance would you recommend we booked?

in high season at least a week.
a long drive but an even better restaurant (in our opinion) is Sao Roque on the Meia Praia at Lagos. bigger range of stunning starters and desserts and possibly slightly cheaper. this is some recommendation as my family and i believe R de P to be something close to heaven!

In one of last years insight magazines this place was featured as the " PLACE TO BE ",
After the food service finshes it becomes a disco ( on the beach ) and is frequented by the likes of Jose morinho and other local celebrities.
It also has en extensive stock of very expensive champagnes.

Tried this place last week for the first time and must say it's probably my favourite restaurant in the area. Great setting, lovely fresh fish + seafood, superb wine list + friendly, attentive service. I'd never heard of the place until I read about it on the forum, so thankyou to all the forumistas that recommended it.

Had supper here last night. We are regular visitors and enjoy the fresh fish and fabulous views the restaurant offer.

Quite surprised how quiet the restaurant was last night and although the food and service was as good and consistent as ever the bill was almost eye watering.

The tiger prawns are now priced at €75 per Kg! Now they are very nice but that's 3 times the price of filet steak! Also I wonder if the fish portions are getting bigger; they select the size of fish to feed 1,2,4 or how ever many people choose it. I had so much Red Snapper I couldn't eat it all.

In the current economic climate and with a weak pound this fabulous restaurant is sadly becoming a special occasion venue rather than a regular visit.

I'm with the general consensus, without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the area. There is nothing in Carvoeiro (from a traditional / fish point of view) to come even close to it. For a real treat try the scarlet prawns (Carabineiros). Great wine selection as well.
The fact it is always so busy with well to do locals as well as expats and tourists and you need to book a table pretty much year round says it all.
