Hi, nobody missed me????

We just came home after 10 wonderful weeks in Carvoeiro. There is still some snow on the ground here, and my almond "tree-let" won't flower till late May, sooo... first thing I did, was browsing through the forum and reading Nigel's newsletters. I always enjoy them, but this time even more, since I was there at the time. And as a special bonus I found myself in one of the pictures, sitting at our favourite table at Smilers! (Look at picture #4 in the March letter - to the right of the palm tree, against the back wall I am the lady in red. My husband Peter is hidden behind another lady - he doens't like to be mobbed by his fans

.We have been going to the two "Valdemar" ladies serving chicken priri-piri by the Silves market ever since our first visit. They always remember us from year to year. Actually most people do, which I find amazing considering that during the summer season they must see hundreds of different guests...
I really enjoyed meeting ktee and her husband and e-richard and his wife. Can't wait to comeback next winter and hopefully meeting more of you.

Bernard and Pauline left yesterday, very reluctantly!

Ktee, We had several expected and unexpected visitors during the last two weeks, so time ran away from us. One day I wanted to drop in and say good-bye, only to realize it was 6.30 and of course you had left. Must have had a drink with Pauline and Bernie again not watching the clock...There is always next year.

Great to see you back on here

Sounds like you had a wonderful time and judging from the photo at Smilers(Nice one) done you a power of good..you & hus.
Looking at that palm tree in front made me think of the African chap who was there last summer...called Medu...who sat there selling his carved animals..wonder if he'll be back this year?
Of course..you know youve made us here in UK feel jealous for that lovely CVO sunshine dont you

But ..Im out there April6th for2 weeks..but without Hub this time(hes decorating house.so Ill be glad to be away!)..and boy am I looking forward to it!
You still have a little snow you say..chilly? and dont you notice it after all that Algarve warmth?
Today here in Lincs..weve had sun, rain, chilly wind, hail & thunder in some parts..in other words typical English weather!

Heini..forgot to ask...don't suppose you will be out to CVO later this year...Autumn at all?
We're planning a longer stay..would be nice to meet up with you some time

Ellie, yes I could do a write up about our time in Carvoeiro - but Nigel is doing such a great job with the newsletters - and the forum wouldn't be the place to share gossip

If everything goes well we will be back in Carvoeiro in early Jan 05, can't wait. We just found a liquor store here in Edmonton/Canada where we can buy Macieira (halleluja) at a reasonable price and there is a small grocery store with a tiny bar in the back, you'd think you stepped right into one of of those Mom and Pop places in the Algarve back country: friendly people, portuguese TV, the works. At another bakery cum grocery we bought pasteis de nata, they even have bacalhau! So we have places to go should we get too homesick.

Cant share the gossip eh?...now wonder what that could be...hmm...Im sharpening my pencil..getting notepads ready for a little 'under cover work'......
That sounds great Heini..a little bit of old Portugal on your doorstep..and you speaking of those 'Mom& Pop'places...brought back our time in Lagoa...when you could walk along the main street(& others) and almost every other little house had an open door.(or so it seemed).with tiny bar at the back..
it was so full of character(& characters!)
Lot of its disappeared(sad to say)..now theyve pedestrianised the high street.
Like to think we will be out next year around Feb..so may be we will catch up with each other then..that'd be nice

Well, Ellie, I am sure you will catch up with some of the gossip, once you get there. And of course this forum is great for getting all kinds of info, even if you have to dig a little deeper.
Would be great if we could meet up next Jan/Feb/Mar hopefully with a few more fans.
