Licensing for boreholes and septic tanks

I sent my Solicitor an email about this late on Monday and she responded by saying that she'd looked at the website and was going to ring the ARH to check it out. Will see what she comes back with and share information

Our Solicitor has said that you do indeed need to re-licence everything and is in the process of doing so,.

I wrote of my experience on expatsportugal...cost was my time only plus €5.50 for an updated cardenta predial which finances have on computer and can produce in literally two minutes. Other costs were about 70 cents for 8 photocopies

apparently the date for registration has been extended to May2010. I have copied & pasted this post from expatsportugal.com On looking at the ARH Algarve website they still havn't amended this date.

My Solicitor has spoken to ARHAlgarve and they've confirmed that the date has been extended until 31 May 2010 so the pressure's off. I've been told that I need to get a sample of water analysed by ARH, for which they provide a container and sampling instructions. They then analyse it at a cost of 75 euros + IVA and I then submit the necessary forms and supporting paperwork.

Part the way through unravelling the process, I had a strange feeling of deja vu as when I was a Student Environmental Health Officer one of my tasks was taking samples from people's private water supplies such as wells and boreholes. Always knew the training would come in useful

at messines junta they did not ask for any water sample, why not go to your local junta and see if you can save 75 euros

Sorry for bringing this topic back to life but if any of you in Carvoeiro still havn't registered your Fossa (Septic Tank) I have just read a post on expatsportugal, the person lives up north in Coimbra, and when he went to ARH in Coimbra they told him that you don't need to register if your household is less than 10 persons. I cant understand where they are coming from, do the ARH offices have different rules for different areas. We registered in Faro, and the person asked us how many persons, we said 4, but we still had to register. Does anyone know if the criteria has been changed?
