Crockery

Can anyone suggest where I can buy some reasonable crockery. Over the last 6 months or so I have looked in Continente, the supermarket at the Algarve shopping centre, Conforama, Moviflor etc but all I can find is crockery with asymetrical patterns, slogans, square plates etc etc. I would like something fairly plain, reasonable quality and of a conventional shape. The villa's contents included the ceramic effect stuff and whilst it's serviceable, it's not really to my taste.Thanks in anticipation.

Try Makro 1 but surprised that you could not find what you wanted in Continente, we fitted out a villa and apartment with a basic Blue ( yes boring ) service also available in white for some unbelievably low prices less that 30 euros for a 6 place setting.
If anything gets brolen replacements can be easily picked up.

I cant remember the name of it, but there is a hotel supplies wholesaler on the right hand side of the road between Faro and Guia on the N125.

We were able to buy all the kitchen ware and crockery we needed there, in several colours, including white, at very reasonable prices. Certainly cheaper than Makro.

The shop in Lagos in the square has some "lovely" crockery, don't know about price though it looks an expensive place.
Surprised you're into crockery Bruce, normally that's reserved for the limp wristed brigade, Know what I mean like!

'Gato Preto' ground floor in the Algarve Forum shopping centre at Guia & 'Casa' on the small retail park next door. Both have some really nice crockery, glasses & tablewear. The thing I find most difficult to get hold of is good quality plastic/acrylic 'glasses', Zonda's bbq shop is the only place I've found any really nice stuff but they are pricey. You'd think with all the tiled floors & pool terraces all the shops would have them.

On the subject of good quality plastic glasses etc we bought ours in the UK and took them out with us as we want tp protect our floors , pool and friends feet from the threat of broken glass, ( glass does not bounce on tiles ).

Where in the Algarve can we get Good Quality clear high density pastic glasses etc.

I would recommend this place too.... our appartment is in Lagos, and I still can't remember the name sorry. But, what I would say is it's actually a lot cheaper than it looks, and they have some nice stylish stuff. They also have a section which is specifically aimed at hotels etc, so stuff in this section might be a bit more bomb proof.
Otherwise, have you tried CASA (also has shops in Portimao, Lagos, & Algarve retail park).

I bought the crockery in Casa when over recently - they had exactly what I was looking for so thanks for the suggestions
