sorry a bit new to this we are coming out at the end of may, for the first time have been reading alot about cvo on this site, bit worried about the rebuild of the square now ?? will this effect us staying at colina village ! hope its nice now know what beach to go to thanks to reading info here...

Please don't worry about the square, as you can see from this web cam it looks great, you can get to the square and the beach, the only problem will be for those with cars and the parking but there are plenty of places you just have to drive around a bit sometimes and maybe walk a little... Enjoy your trip.

Things a little livelier, on weds night, dinner at salmao ( excellent as usual ) dinks at Bar Talvez ( certainly worth a visit ) Mungos, good entertainment, finally a drink at Jailhouse watching the Queen Tribute concert DVD.

Starting to feel like summer, now back in UK wind howling 12 degrees *******.

Just returned, were there for a fortnight. We thought it was very quiet compared to all previous visits at the same time of year. The restaurants in particular seemed quiet. The smell of BBQs abounded and I do wonder if many (including our party) are alternating eating in/BBQs & eating out to save a bit of money. The more reasonably priced places seemed busier e.g. stone steak house full most nights. A lot of the bars were quite busy however. Bradys, Havana etc etc had plenty of customers. The square had a nice buzz and fullish cafes during the day, quiet at night. Train started running again on Tues- hurray!. Practically had Slide & Splash to ourselves the day we tried it. Didn't brave the sea but hubby did, said was freezing for first 3-4 mins, then fine!!! Tip for those with young kiddies - Lantern A Velha now has a childrens playhouse to keep them entertained. Made a nice alternative to Vimar for us & our tiddlers. Vimar was practically empty each night.

16:25 - May 28th - 26C - just checked the webcams for the beach and the square. The beach is very quiet - about 20 people on it and the square is completely empty. Hope it will liven up a touch when we come out there - less than 8 weeks now!

Couple of things the shop behind the Matabixo is open may have closed due to the works.

It is a lot quieter out here than it was this time last year square seems empty after 22:00 but did read today that 50% of Germans have decided to stay at home rather than take a foreign holiday. So it must have some effect

The shop behind Metabixo is,nt closed as there is another entrance on the other side, they just seem to open when it suits.
If you are not open you can,t sell.

Question is there a local byelaw that says that restaraunts must close at least 1 day week.?
I have noticed that in other resorts there are more places open at lunchtimes and 7 days week in high season.
