Recommendations for vegetarians
Recommendations for vegetarians
We are returning to CVO late July for the first time since 2006. My wife and eldest daughter are strict veggies (i.e. no fish) and last time the forum was really helpful with planning our dining. In particular we found El & Ela, Maximes, L'Orange, Casa Velha do Pescador at Benagil and The Village Inn at Mex. de Caragacao(?) to be very good.
Obviously passage of time means the restaurant scene will have changed. Where would people recommend for vegetarians in & around CVO these days (we'll have a car so aren't limited by location, within reason), particularly any at the slightly cheaper end of the market given the current state of the £.

Recommendations for vegetarians - don't go to Texas
Re: Recommendations for vegetarians
All of the above plus Maximes in Carvoeiro, Bella Vita Italian in Clube Atlantico, Mr Grilo in Porches, A Grelha in Armação de Pera, Atlantico in Guia - the last two are probably at the cheaper end of the scale. At Atlantico you have to ask for a veggie dish and they normally bring a nice pasta dish
Re: Recommendations for vegetarians
I would add Villa Medici to the list and also either of the Indian restaurants - they will make any of their numerous dishes as vegetarian upon request

Mona Lisa do a really tasty vegetarian ravioli as well as other dishes. I am not a vegetarian but I always have the Ravioli there.
Re: Recommendations for vegetarians
Barnards in Ferragudo have a lovely vegetarian menu. I'm not vegetarian but when I went I chose that menu for both my starter and main.

STOP PRESS: Addition to the above list:
We've just got back from "Taste". Its a sort of up market Tapas restaurant half way out of town on the out road, and goes through to half way into to town on the in road. Approximately 1/3 of the dishes on offer were strictly vegetarian. Amazing!
Its pricey, but very good food, well presented and friendly service.

Bruce, if you look closely, you'll see that she is merely staring at the small amount of wine in her glass
That was easily rectified, and her opinion of the vegetarian selection of food was very high.
Praise indeed !

Just a thought, especially if you like Indian food. O'Indiano and OÇastello have a good variety of Veggie dishes. Friend of ours who is Punjabi and because of her religious beliefs commented on the variety and the quality of Veggie dishes she had to chose from when she visited. Strictly speaking they are not allowed to use the same utensils and chopping boards that have been tainted with meet. So worth a visit
So I think all in all you have a quite a choice around CVO.
Enjoy your hols
Gaynor
BTW, One of our fav. restaurants
