Best restaurant for a big question?

Hi all,

Right, I've booked the table at Rei des Praias. Beforehand, I have arranged some spa treatments at Alba Suites (thanks to you all for your fantastic tips!!!).

Three questions:

1. How long does it take to get from Alba Suites to Rei des Praias? Is it a walk or a taxi?
2. Does RdP serve champagne?
3. Roughly how much might a good meal at Rei des Praias cost? I imagine they don't take cards and just wondered how much is wise to go equipped with.

Thanks to you all. You've been really decent and patient. The deed takes place on 11 Aug, so believe it or not, my cries for help will come to an end real soon!

Glad you have it all organised and with a schedule like that, you can't fail to get the answer you want.
Answers to: A. You need a taxi, roughly 20 mins.
B) Yes they do fantastic champagne, ring and ask the owner/manager Luis to put some on ice for you.
C) approx Euros 60 -100 for two depending on what fish/meat you have (excluding the champagne)

Not being nosey, but roughly when will you be there, just so we can look over and go awwww... if we are there at the same time

The meal starts at 19:00 so unless I call her by the wrong name, I'd hope to be engaged by c. 20:30/21:00. Woohoo!

Good idea - I'll pop by there a few days beforehand to ensure the bubbles are suitably chilled.

I can't give her name just in case she does a google search on Carvoeiro between now and then, sees her name and puts 2 and 2 together.

Excited, massively, but shouldn't I be more alot nervous than this?

They do take credit cards now - it got so expensive people couldn't carry enough cash in their pockets.

Dear Mike

Glad to hear you are going to the restaurant I suggested. They do take credit cards and if you have not already picked your table give them a call and ask for the one on the balcony in the right hand (westmost) corner as it can be very hot inside in the evening in August and this is the best table.

Good luck and if I might suggest try a grilled tiger prawn as a starter - they are delicious!!

I too got engaged recently and had the waiter put the ring in a glass of champagne which was good fun and will never be forgotten!!
