We now have to turn right up the hill on Rua do Casino pass Ma-Ja's & then turn sharply right into the road behind Monte Carvoeiro, we've noticed though a lot of cars still carry on straight ahead so I think it's going to take until October for everyone to familiarise themselves with the new traffic system.... & then they'll change it. :D It's all good fun though.

An article from a while ago regarding the traffic alterations for the future, when the outer car parks are completed to reduce traffic flow through the square.

I have been haopily going striaght up the hill past Ma Jas and only noticed yesterday the no access time. What is the point of that? I meandered for what seemed like hours through Monte Cavoeiro whereas before it took 10 seconds to rejoin the main road.

Last night watched a large van trying to drive around the bend in the square, hit a new silver post.
Very entertaining I have to say (van driver not hurt, but post was)

This happens all the time. We are surprised there hasn't been a major accident the speed some of the cars go up and down this road.

Yellow lines were painted last week as well, but do you think that these are taken notice of ?????

It's all very confusing!! we are out in 10 days time and I can't wait to drive into the town and see the new square, when we were out at Easter they still had so much work to do I'm surprised it's finished!

The people sitting on them tend to get very dizzy though, which puts them at even more risk of being knocked down as they try to navigate their way back to safety. :D

It seems to have led to lots of horns hooting in the town centre as traffic gets gridlocked. Over the last 2 weeks we've noticed 4 of the new silver posts knocked over or bent, but they were rapidly replaced or repaired.

Its a complete and utter disaster.

Does the town want to look like Costa del Sol ???. This is a square in a fishing village.... not Magaluff.

The central flower bed needed a bit of money spent on it and the square extended once the parking was re-located...what it didnt need is its focal point removed and a 3 lane motorway segment dropped in instead.

Such a waste of money. :( :( :( :x :x

Oh dear Milord...Im now dreading seeing it!
and you've made me feel nostalgic for the round seat in the middle where I used to 'people watch'..
I have a feeling, reading your post, that the 'fishing village' ambience is fast disappearing :(

Yes, the people watching/resting your legs/meeting/focal point/children running around it in circles laughing seat is no longer. now its just a bland open expanse....convenient for erecting a stage in the summer but thats it.
