flying to Portugal - Passports

Saw previously a note about having to log your passport numbers before flying to Portugal.
Can anyone confirm that this is still required as we have just had email confirmation from Monarch that this is only done for Spain.

My daughter had to do hers yesterday on Easyjet.

Never had to do it - last went in August. Would be interested to know if there has been a change as due to fly out next week.

We flew with BMI baby in August and we had to give our info

We booked flights with easyjet last week to fly back to Gatwick for a couple of days and then returning to Portugal and we had to fill in our passport details on line.

I didn't find out about this until we arrived in Portugal. When I checked the Easyjet details it said that we had to provide the information or we wouldn't fly. Presumably, this was the case when we went through Bristol, we hadn't provided the info. and nobody questioned it. I did complete it for the return journey and future trips.

We had to do it for our Easyjet flight this Friday. I thought it was only Easyjet that were pushing this, but looks like BMI are as well.

Does anyone know if you have to do it every time you book with EJ? I had to do all the existing bookings but I've not done any since.

With EJ; if you book a batch of flights under one booking number you enter once. When you book further flights your previously entered info will appear and you will be asked to confirm that it is still correct.

Never had to do it with Monarch, if you want to book in on line you have to give the information from your passport.

Hi. I am a regular flyer with Monarch and they only ask for passport details (number) if you want to pre-book your seats. If you do NOT pre-book they don't ask. Last flew with Monarch in June and August this year. x

Just flew out to Faro on Monarch without booking seats and they didn't ask for the details.
Return flight is booked with EJ and they requested all passport details.
Is it an airline decision or does it depend on the destination?

We recently flew to Tenerife on Monarch and we were asked for details when we booked the flights,I thought it was because Tenerife is part of Spain, however Easyjet asked for details when I booked flights to Bordeaux and Faro

We fly with Monarch 8 to 10 times a year, booked monday for in acouple of weeks pre booked all seats etc and was not asked for any passport details, only time ever asked was when we book in on line.
