Limited access to Carvoeiro centre

Just returned from 2 weeks in the sun, my 4th visit to the town in 7 years. The square is now just a glorified race track for the local boy racers and certainly not pedestrian friendly. No signs of any sort telling you to give way to traffic in any direction, the police more interested in parking tickets to tourists than anybody else, same problem at the top of rest hill, locals parking on the paths forcing everybody to walk in the road. The major improvement though is the out road, this is now a really nice comfortable walk and at night very appealling.
One more gripe, the town seems to be developing into a smaller version of Magaluf late at night. Gangs of noisy youths. (mainly all from one bar) hope the police stop this soon.

Which bar? We arrive on 5th Sept for 11 nights and stay in Monte Carvoeiro, but often frequent the village for meal. Then late drinks and a good time, normally at Round Up.

Well we returned on the 1st August - apart from the bears (which have now gone) I liked the square. As for rowdiness - we passed through the square at various times (from 10:30pm - noisy but good natured thru to 2:30am - everyone in bed!) and there was no problems that I could see. It's a holiday village - there's bound to be noise in the evenings because there's lots of people about. Think how awful it would be if there was no-one there - the place would shut down in no time.

Let's have less negativity and more good vibes - it's a great place to be!

I,m not saying that it,s not a great place to holiday, (4 visits in 7 years and already booked to go back next year), its the groups of youths on their way home from the bars that make life uncomfortable. We were staying in a villa just off rest hill (up past the large supermarket) and the noise and litter late at night took some getting used to. Mungos has gone from a decent family bar to a young bar and it is killing it. Even the owner regrets the changes as they cannot keep their crowds like they used to. The roundup is always packed with families and should serve as a good example to mungos on how to keep your business.

Glad to see that Big Will at RoundUp is keeping a good balance between lively nights and ensuring things don't get out of hand.

We're no snobs when it comes to noise in early hours, after all it is a holiday village at this time of year, but there's a divide between good natured singing & laughing and general messing about than yobbishness with people squaring up and looking for trouble. Let's hope Carvoeiro doesn't degenerate into that type of unwanted behaviour.

Can't wait til 5th Sept. I think that will be our 10th visit in 8 years.

hi there,

Myself and my husband have been holidaying in Carvoeiro for 6 years, normally twice a year apart form this year. We are visiting again in 2 weeks but I am very concerned about parking. We are staying in Carvoeiro Sol and will be driving a hire car - in the past we have parked a short distance from the hotel but with the new traffic conditions I'm not sure what will be available - any hints and tips?

You cannot park close to the hotel anymore. if you are lucky you may find a space on the " in Out " road .

i know - I've always discussed the parking issue with them - the hotel is just so convenient!

I'm really excited about our trip - I never tire of Carvoeiro...I just want it to stay as beautiful as it always has been!

Why don't you get in touch with the hotel and ask them now you can't park in front of the hotel where would they recommend????

Thanks for this - I don't know why I hadn't thought about it!!! Lack of sun, I think
