Beaches

Post by George »

Last year me and my family regularly visited a beach just outside Carvoerio. I cannot remember the name of the beach.

The beach has a beach- restaurant owned by father and son (luis?) and a boy (bruno) rents the beach beds.

Perhaps someone knows the name of this lovely beach ? Why can't I find anything on this website about this beach?

Thanks

Hi George,

Did you have a look at this page?

Sounds like Centianes to me since it is close to CVO altho' I do not know the names of the restaurant people. Or might be Albandeira which also has a restaurant.

Not Albandeira, they are French. Could be Caneiros, which is to the west of Carvoeiro. tell us about the journey to get there, it will help! Mike

Praia Caneiros between Sesmarias and Ferragudo.
Luis is still managing it and Bruno is still lifeguard and looking after the beds. Rebuilt since last year and more popular so it is advisable to book a table particularly at sunset times.
Beware of the unofficial parking attendant who speaks several languages worse than my Portuguese !!!
Mention my recommendation and you will get no discount but Luis will probably provide me with a free beer!!!
Enjoy it.

I am also aware of the unofficial parking attendant at Praia Caneiros. This guy has it down to a fine art on how to hussle you out of your pocket change. He must do quite well because as far as I know he's been there for 2 years.

This is a great beach & fab restaurant - I remember it well. If the recipe is still going, their seafood 'marisco com arroz' is out of this world, serves 2 on the menu but in real life serves around 5! The beach round the corner to the right can be accessed at low tides and is worth visiting, but be careful not to stay too long as one Carvoeiro forum user had to swim her way back after neglecting the time (no names!). As for the car parking attendant, he can smell a tourist a mile off so try and polish up your Portuguese! Have fun - Sophie
