Yes, Centeanes is closed off untill further notice.

Every so soften, after the winter rain and tide have soaked into the cliffs, the limestone becomes so heavy it gives way.

If you walk along the clifftops, it is always advisable to stay away from the edge.

Now that access to Centianes beach is not possible does that mean that the beach bar will be closed too?Do you think it will be open later in the summer :(

Centianes

Centianes is not closed due to an accidental rock fall. It was closed by the Regional Environment agency in order that improvements can take place. The work strted on 15.04 and is supposed to be finished in 30 days?! The beach bar has "gone" but will presumably be rebuilt.

If you take a look at Centianes from the Colina Sol side it is amazing. A huge digger is clawing away at the cliff face and half the beach has gone due to the rock the digger has dragged down. It is a job to see what they are trying to achieve and of course Easter was not the ideal time to undertake such a project? It is probably a good job the weather is too bad for the beach! :(

Pictures from Centianes Beach

Post by Peter Belinfante »

I returned last night from Carvoeiro. I have taken some pictures from the work at Centianes Beach.

Is it possible to put these pictures on the site and/or the forum?
Who can answer this question?

thanks for posting those pictures Steen and Peter. It looks awesome, but I don't think anyone can get to the beach this summer.

I never checked this posting with the piccies before sending some more to Steen.

Probably not worth posting noe but considerable sandstone had been moved by Wednesday 22nd when I tok them. Can't work out what is going on and locals are devastated. It seems that the giant pile of sandstone is going to be simply pushed into the sea. Can this be true? I think there will be a beach there by June but it will be two tier!

Hi Steen,

Is it possible that you put the link for the pictures at the frontpage of carvoeiro.com, so that everyone who visits the site sees that there has been happened with Centianes Beach?

Hi Steen,

I just saw on todays electronic edition of the Algarve Resident (www.algarveresident.com) an article about Centianes beach, also with information what the plans are.
Maybe you can put it also on the frontpage ("hot-news")
