Can anyone get Channel 5 anymore?
Since the change to a north beam satellite transponder a few months ago has anyone been able to get channel 5, or 5 as it is now known? If so could you let us know what size dish you are using? Thanks.
ITV etc
You need a new card for your Digi-Box.

There were numerous posts about this last year (can't remember the heading) but the existing digi cards, the free to air ones obtained via the BBC ran out a while ago. The astra satallite has been changed to produce a smaller "footprint" which in the algarve needs a well aimed 120cm dish at least. However, you still need the new card which I think is no longer avaiable unless you go through sky and sign up for the basic package. It was free at the time and had I think 2 years on it.
……and this may refer to my seemingly unnecessary intrusion……but I’d like to point out that there’s a post gone missing here…..sometime yesterday (Sun) pm a guest posted something apparently rude enough for the moderators to hit the delete button……and my above tongue-in-cheek comment is supposed to be in defence…….(but still an accurate description)…..Anonymous wrote:Subject seems to be drifting a bit!

As the person who made the original post I'll try to put it back on topic. This is nothing to do with cards but only signal strength. I get BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CHAN4 and in the morning only a breaking up channel 5. In the evening both BBC1 and Channel5 dissapear. I can solve the BBC1 problem by chosing BBC London or BBC Scotland or BBC NI instead of my default BBC West. These transmissions are on a different transponder and are stronger. Reception of them is perfect at anytime of the day or night.
That just leaves Channel5 which is too weak on a 1m dish. Hence the original question, is anyone getting it perfectly and iff so what size dish are they using. Thanks.
