Has anyone the latest on this please and if it's still on what dates are they planning action. I read in "The News" on Friday it's been settled but they also reported that the new government are not prepaid to pay up for the last governments debts! Which makes one wonder if it's off or on! One of the Sunsay papers in the UK reports some planes being diverted to Seville and 3 hour hold ups last week.

Customs or Immigration? Last Thursday, 27th May, Reuters reported that the immigration officers had called off their action.

"LISBON, May 26 (Reuters) - Portuguese immigration officers have called off strikes that would have coincided with the European Championship, Lusa news agency reported on Wednesday.

The strikes scheduled for this week and June threatened cause delays in the arrival of the estimated 1.5 million visitors expected for the tournament, which starts on June 12.

"We don't want to be responsible for anything that can go wrong during Euro 2004," Joaquim Mendes, vice chairman of immigration service's agents union, told Lusa.

The union's governing council decided to call off the stoppages on Wednesday, Lusa said.

The agents' union had scheduled strikes for Thursday and Friday and for four days in mid-June. Officers are seeking 2.7 million euros ($3.27 million) in back overtime pay.

The centre-right government had said it might use customs officers to replace striking immigration agents."

So it's off then, no question, no going back on agreements, nothing to do with the old govenment, the new government is going to pay up, is this correct. Because that's not what the press are suggesting, hence the clarification. I hate the press by the way but they do have their uses sometimes.
