is it ok to post this here?
I have been searching the internet for someone who will do public liability insurance for me in Portugal but can't find anything. I probably won't be back in the Algarve for a few weeks and wanted to get on with this.
Does anyone have a broker or company that they could recommend for this? You can email or pm me with details.

In my experience the normal Portuguese insurance companies have a view on third party public liability which is odd to the northern european eye. The levels are very low and even when I asked my broker to try commercial levels it was still very low.
For UK residents with holiday villas Saga is very good - if you qualify on age grounds. (There has to be some compensation for getting older!). They give £2000000 third party cover which is useful for those who rent out.
As a resident I use the AFPOP policy negotiated with the Medal insurance company in Portimao. Their house and contents policy is good value for money, can include the sort of things the English people may expect such as new for old cover and offers a choice of third party liability cover giving up to as I recollect a maximum of €1.2 million which is enough if you don't rent out.
The Medal staff are very helpful and all speak excellent English if you can't speak Portuguese. Phone number is 282 430800. Fax is 282 430809 and e-mail is info@medal.pt.
In Portugal there are few opportunities to spread the cost of the annual premium. You have to pay when the policy is issued (often some weeks after cover has commenced) and if you do not want to renew you have to give 30 days notice before expiry otherwise you are legally liable for the next years's premium.
To use the Medal AFPOP house insurance scheme you have to be a member of AFPOP but this is something that all new residents should do for the wealth of information that they offer.
The AFPOP car insurance with Medal is also very good but that is a separate story.

I should clarify my situation. I actually need the PL insurance for business purposes (see my very un-finished website!).
Fortunately its not for renting out property (had enough of that sort of thing in the UK!) and even more fortunately for me I've quite a long way to go before I reach the age Saga accepts for its members!
Would AFPOP help for this sort of thing? I have the feeling its going to be difficult geting the insurance I need, so I really need to get onto it now before I start (probably October).
We will need the usual home insurance and car insurance when we move too, but I'm not too concerned at this stage about getting that sorted out.
