portuguese are lazy
no problem wjs, what is life with out a little conflict? (as my third ex-wife used to say, over and over
) anyhow, i've enjoyed the exchanges, mostly, and the peace pipe has been smoked.
...oh yeah, how i got my visa to go north...simple really...i told them i was from north carolina (they didn't even question my spellimg)
take care....cowboy.
Portuguese are lazy.
Cowboy, seeing as youve helped me with the "mongoose" thing, thought I might return favour--Ive looked up "nemesis" in dictionary (course i knew what it meant didnt I?)
and I quote: retributive justice, downfall caused by(agent,of this)
personified as goddess of retribution(Greek)---oooh er--what can this W J S mean --what has he up his sleeve ?
But I know youll have your wits about you Coop--it all seems calm and quiet at the moment--doesnt it ?
Anyway, have a nice evening, Miss Ellie.
P.S. By the way, what happened to Martins original topic--this is su[pposed to be about whos lazy, exercise etc. Then W J S came on here and told us about his other facets (is that right word ?) are there any more of those up his sleeve ?

bom dia ms elly...thank you for the thread on the fifth anv...it slipped by me...isn't this a great site? now, as to this "nemesis" busines...if it's a greek goddess, i think i can deal with that.
what will wjs do next? i have no idea, but i'm looking forward to it....and yeah, it is quiet isn't it...if you listen carefuly, you can here the mongi calling.

WJS
gone astray
Yes, I must admit , I am the one who lead the subject matter at hand
astray.
What started out an innocent joke by Martin (clever one at that) ended
with Cowboy and I reinacting the civil war.
So let's get back to the problem we have created.
We must prove that the Portuguese are not lazy just because they
shun exercise. It might be that they are by nature a pragmatic people and
would reply as such.."exercise for what, we save ourselves for more
important things".
Ellie, how could you think that I have more trickery up my sleeve and
tell Cowboy he should be wary of me. Having a nemesis is not
necessarily a bad thing, many a person has aspired to greatness
because they had one nipping at their heels.
Ate a proxima...

Portuguese are lazy!
Well, W J S,much as I dont like to admit it,I have to agree with you about the nemesis bit --we do need to be -- is it chivvied ? I cant spell it --- a little, as you say to to keep the brain box sparky and who knows what heights we can reach !
So Im absolutely certain, theres sure to be more tricks upthose "Merlin-like" sleeves ! Im also sure you wont disappoint us !
After lounging in my warm sunny back garden this morning eating a very leisurely breakfast Im beginning, more and more,to go over to the Portuguese way of thinking and as you say, save energy for better things.
Just to add,I also think Martins original message was cleverly put-my lazy mind was slow to get it at first .
Ive forgotten what proxima means and talvez, can you tell me please ?

Portuguese are lazy
Yes,I agree Cowboy, this is a great site and I do enjoy it -trouble is,i find it quite addictive and when i should be doing my writing work I keep looking on here to see whats going on--im very inquisitive (nosey!)
Im sure you can handle the greek goddess but beware! That WJS may come in yet another disguise, especially with those wide magical sleeves,so be on your guard--we must'nt be lazy must we ?
Youve got me worried now--you dont think there could be escaped Mongooses(mongi) here in rural Lincolnshire do you--Im usually woken by loud pheasant noises;perhaps a mongoose would calm them down!
D'you know anything about "Creole"--not just the music, but the people, the culture? Im trying to do some research as I have reason to believe that my French Grandmere (from Dads side) came from those roots--she was very dark-skinned with lustrious frizzy black hair with French name of course,my cousin traced it to American south.
apologies for inserting this personal piece! Ill end it by saying she certainly wasnt lazy ! But a wonderful professional dancer. Now thats a good way to keep fit
Boa tarde,Ms Elle.

Portuguese are lazy
P.S. Forgot to add Cowboy,Steens just put my recent story on Ellies Corner ---thats about an American from California--but Ive never been there;expect you have ?
hi ms elle,...you are researching an intersting part of the world...next door to texas, actualy....first, a defination of terms..."creole" is the language spoken by "cajuns" (your grandmama was a cajun who spoke creole)...cajun is a derivitve of "arcadian", french speaking immigrants from arcadia (now nova scotia), who settled in louisiana after the civil war...cajuns are a mixture of french, africans and indians, who developed a distinct culture, as they were shunned by "polite" society, that thrives to this day in that area. is there anything specific you want to know about them?

filling in for WJS
WJS asked me to fill in for him today, seems he over exerised and is
taking much needed bedrest.
As far as I know, "ate a proxima" means until I see you again and "talvez"
means maybe or perhaps.
WJS is trying to learn Portuguese, but in his case I think it is hopeless.

I have decided who is a little bit lazy but only around this site and that is our Michael Crane - what is it? Around 60 posts on Carvoeiro.com and something like 260 posts on Hisaranu.co.uk - tut, tut!
Mads
P.s. It is your fault Michael, you sent me to that OTHER site. Oh and to make matters worse - what was it - I remember . . . "british by birth, turkish by choice". I am gutted!
