The Island Cafe

Post by sunman »

seems to have shut down?

a friend saw some creditors up there trying to take furniture etc away in place of debt; GNR had to attend to calm it all down.

I used to like the odd lunch there, anybody have any info?

Doesn't surprise us, this was an excellent restaurant when first opened but when the original owners sold the business it was never the same and has just kept going down hill. We knew it was up for sale and if what you have heard is true it is a shame but somewhat inevitable.

Island Cafe is going to be run by the owners of "Oleao de Porches".
It is going to be a bistro with lunches and dinners,
the bar is going to be a wine bar with tapas,
and openening around 21th of January.

Hope the plastic palm tree just recently sited outside the entrance isn't a sign of how the decor will be inside.

Understand that a new bistro restaurant ( Lunches & Dinner) & Tapas Bar has opened at what was formerly
Island cafe ( Presa de Moura complex) in Sesmarias, Lagoa. The opening was on Friday 21st January 2011.

Can readers please let us know your thoughts and comments on your visit to either of these NEW establishments.

Thanking you.

Widge,

We will be staying in area shortly and would like to get an idea of menu. Did you try the tapas bar next to
restaurant. ?

Your further comments would be useful. With thanks

Sorry dakar no tapas to be seen. The Island Cafe menu comprises salads, wraps, burgers, pasta & a daily specials menu (which looked very good).

Hope I am not mis representing them but there was no tapas on the menu yesterday.

Hi

Had a burger there earlier this week for lunch. Nothing special, in fact below average. They could give me a pass to eat for free for a year and I would not go back.

Last time I buy you lunch !!! (only joking the food was poor but the last time I criticised a restaurant on here I got a load of abuse).
