Hello! Nice to meet you.....!

Post by IOM Nigel »

Hello, my friends - whilst I am not really new to 'the Forum' (i.e. I have been reading the various postings for several months), I finally decided I should 'sign-up!'

So, I am delighted to 'make your acqaintances', and look forward to your further comments.....

Just for the record, my lady and I have an apartment, just up from the Post Office - we live and work in the Isle of Man for most of the year, but we still manage to come across to CVO four or five times a year - we are also very lucky to have two good friends who live in the same building (but 'full-time'), so they are kind enough to keep an eye on our place, security-wise etc.

Briefly, whilst mentioning the subject of 'security' (which I am sure we are all very aware of, and concerned about), I was 'gutted' to read about the recent robbery in the 'Imagine' jewelery shop - we have bought several items, watches, bracelets, chains etc. from 'Imagine' over the last few years; they are lovely people, and I feel so sad that this has happened - my sympathies go out to Mr Sanders and his partner, and also to our friend Eduarda and her colleague. The shop was always immaculate, and it now sounds like they will have to close for several weeks, to clear up all the mess and broken cabinets etc. Definately NOT what they, or indeed CVO and its citizens need.

Anyway, I won't bore you any more....see you and CVO very soon!

Best wishes to you

Nigel (from the IOM!)

Hiya and welcome.

I was also very sad to read about the robbery we have bought pieces of jewellery from this shop over the past 8 years and love to go in and browse when ever we are there, a lovely shop.

Hello Nigel,

I hear that there's been a happy ending to the jewelers robbery story; this is second hand but apparently a vigilant resident or visitor noticed that someone had put a bottle on his property wall, he went to investigate and found a bag with all the 'swag' in it, about €150,000 worth of chains, necklaces etc.; a stakeout was arranged and when the thief returned to collect he was arrested, they are still looking for an accomplice.

Wow! - thank you for the kind welcome - it just makes me want to come out to CVO RIGHT NOW! The weather here in the IOM is VERY chilly!

Never mind, it won't be long, I guess;........ but not soon enough!

I'm glad things are moving on re, the 'IMAGINE' jewelery robbery (perhaps I shouldn't say it, but perhaps the CVO 'gendamerie' are maybe not so inept as everyone seems to say they are....I hope that is the case, anyway....!)

(And just to let you know, the 'Lady' is called Jackie - so, if you see one 'whitey' (me) and one tanned lady (Jackie) walking along the streets, or on the beach, or in a restaurant, then you'll know it's us - so, give us a 'hello'!

We hope to meet up with you when we come over next, so keep yours eyes peeled - and remember," white and tan"!

All the best to you all!

Nigel, (and Jackie) from the IOM

That's something at least.

Welcome Nigel and Partner. I used to have a friend from the IOM, surname Kissack, which i understand is a very old name in those parts.

The robbers stashed their stuff in a property in Monte Carvoeiro and were seen by the vigilant resident. When one of them returned to retrieve it - the GNR were waiting and he is now in custody. He is Romanian.

That's a great result, let's hope the GNR catch his accomplice :D

Hello from another newbie. Start by stating I purchaed in colina verde 2009.... but of course not completed until 2010.
not renting just for private use - at least for now. 5/6 visits each year - not ideal but for now will have to do. keep up to date with this very valuble site. have recently noticed a less 'cheerful' tone to a lot of posts. maybe its just me or maybe it's a culmination of events
1) A poor unfortunate man killed in the village.
2) break ins and burglarys (more an 1 by all account)
3) New toll roads
4) Only affecting a few I appreciate but the making of a one way system on Monte Durado is going to inconvenience a number drivers ( ok - me!!)

maybe with spring/summer approaching the news will be more cheerful.

this is a great platform and I for one appreciate it.
