I've got a bit of a problem here.
I've recently noticed that, in general the prices in Homebase in Chichester are higher than in B and Q in Bognor. Now should I insist on paying B and Q the higher price?
I also bought some computer hardware today. I'm afraid I shopped around a bit to find lower prices. Should I just have gone to pc world and paid double?

Thank you petermeachem for once again doing what this forum seems to do best

I have been viewing this forum every few days for the past year or so and contributed where appropriate. It was - and still is a fantastic forum for information and advice on all things Carvoeiro and Portugal.

However, all to often the original question gets lost after 24 hours in a haze of fighting and sarcasm. I appreciate that by voicing my criticism I am going to lose this topic and further advice and help forever.

Please can we return this forum to all things Carvoeiro, all things Portugal and the anecdotes that the country and its lifestyle provides?

Anyway,
We've just had a quote for wall plastering in Portugal. Doesn't strike me as particularly cheap. I was going to send you a pm to ask what your uk rate is, but can't as you don't have a button.

So what do you charge here roughly for lime/cement external walls?

No prob. Could you pm me with a price then, just a rough idea, I haven't a clue, except that plastering is v difficult having done quite a bit in our house here.

last time i asked a uk plaster what was the day rate (this is about 2 years ago) he told me 140 pounds aday...plus the labourer was on a 100.

well im sure in portugal you could get someone to do rendering for a week for that price....and from what i have seen some of the external rendering around windows etc are works of art...

Ah numbers. Numbers are good. I've been trying to get some info from the screwfix forum, asked the price per m sq. One bloke said he didn't work it out like that. What he did was to measure the length of the wall, then multiply by the height. I blame the schools.
The builder is quoting around £15 / m sq and one screwfix guy said he would quote 2 days for a wall 15 m by 2 m, which all comes to £30 / hr which agrees with your figure.
I shall discuss it with said builder next week whilst relaxing in the sunshine.

So, I suppose the answer is, what you charge depends largely on who is paying. My quote seems high, but then it is being split three ways, the builder, the plasterer and the labourer.
