Used building materials

Anybody out there knowing about a used building material yard?

For large stonework especially.

Anywhere in Portugal and/or Andalucia.

Any information appreciated.

Interesting point. I've not seen one. I've also not seen junk shops or antique shops to any extent.
I don't think the Portuguese, or anyone else for that matter shares the English obsession with using old stuff. There are at least two reclamation yards within 5 miles of my house near Chichester that do a roaring trade in doors, windows, tiles, loos etc. I don't think the Portuguese see the point, rather have something new.
One house we looked at was an old mill. It was a bit spooky, so we didn't buy it, but it would be a lovely rebuild, all the machinery was intact etc. The Portuguese agent just assumed that a buyer would knock the whole thing down and start again.
We wanted to re-use the roof tiles on our abode but were persuaded otherwise, just hope they mellow reasonably quickly.

I'm sure when i was in silves last year there was a lovely antique type shop in one of the little winding streets--but i've never seen a reclaimation yard-I'll ask my sister. She's a diy freak!

no cant think of any secondhand builders yards...all building is using new materials....as the old stuff is not very good....take care with any wood particularly beams as they are prone to wood worm
