Yes - but the word "soon" should give us an idea of when they will arrive ...

All this will do is increase the coffers of the local government and local businesses will have less custom especially if clamping takes place. The one thing the local council should NOT do is to kill the goose that lays the golden egg(ie: tourists).

I have no no doubt that if meters brings the dosh in, it will be extended to every available parking space in the town, There must be a Portuguese Gordon Brown in the decision board to come up with this crackpot scheme!

Will it? One of the reasons you cannot park is because the local businesses have take up all of the spaces. If they have to pay maybe they will park elsewhere.

And how do you think the vast numbers in the main town get there? Parachute in!

I know someone who was clamped in Albufeira recently and the de-clamping fee was €120  maybe different councils have differing prices. A big crackdown on parking is in process, due to a new guy in the appropriate department in Albufeira. The rule is if you have to cross the middle line of the road to pass the parked car you are parked illegally whether there is any signage saying you cannot park. Seems this is being enacted on in other resort as well, but at least Carvoeiro will have parking metres which then lets you know you have to pay to park legally, whereas in Albufeira you are in the dark as to where you may or may not legally park & then get stung good style for doing so.

Had a think about this for a bit...the free parking spaces all over the village are taken by the residents and the people who work for local businesses..ok, so charge a fee for a space between May & October and if you are a resident grant a permit for free parking outside your residence. It will increase the numbers and spend in the village if you can park, the number of times I just stay put rather than risk the hassle of trying to find a parking spec...how about every business gets a number of parking spaces during the months that matter? Got to find a way of being tourist friendly...yes, yes I know everyody who live in Carvoeiro "hates the tourist season" but by enlarge most of my clients in the U.K. get on my nerves as well...but they pay the bills so I make it easy to deal with me

I would doubt we will see parking meters, the point on residents is a good one....besides I cant remember the last time I had enough loose change to make 80 cents, everything seems to be the round Euro or 50 cents!!

True, they'd be better off making it 50cents for half an hour. We used to have parking meters in the old carpark by the beach they were 20cents for half an hour I think. I don't mind if the revenue goes into Carvoeiro but the Lagoan council never seem to keen to spend money on the town.

What vast numbers? If you mean the people who work in the town and currently occupy the majority of the parking spaces all day, then they can park further out and walk into town. This will leave spaces for visitors who want to come into town and shop.
