Here is a travel tip:

When in a foreign country make sure to always carry something that will let others know where you are staying (Hotel card, managers contact, etc). Reason being, if you are incapacitated, for whatever reason  , people trying to assist you will know where to look for family or friends to help you out.

Last week was the second time in a few months that I ran into a bloke who could not even say his own name properly and who´s alcohol amnesia had eliminated any recollection of where he was staying.
Now as any good hotel manager will tell you, no hotel or resort will lodge a drunk, gritty, bruised and insulting man after midnight, unless they already have a room paid for.
The end of that story was a good nights sleep in a cell at the local police station and probably a fine for stupidity.

hi gambrinus, good tip..i learned that trick in seville, spain..walking around the "old city"..i would get hoplessly lost..flag a cab, give the driver the card..and always got "home"...another trick that i learned was to never to carry your wallet in it's usual place...mine was in my hip pocket, so i shifted it to my front pocket...it was annoying, so i always knew that it was there... the only time i had my wallet "lifted" was in miami , when i wasn't following my own advice.
