Re: A22 tolls

Farol, it is an issue for me. It looks as if rentals are going to be difficult to administrate, but since the last topic on this subject there's not much new stuff to comment on. Steen and the Mods (I am excluded  ) are monitoring the situation, and because Steen is involved with AlgarveDriver I am sure he'll post when we have something more substantial than speculation.

I have been wondering why Steen never seems to contribute to the tolls topic. Presumably he is as confused as everyone else about the logistics.

I always hire a car after we have arrived in resort, so the point about only using the car to and from the airport doesn't apply. However, I do use the A22 during the holiday if we are going east to the Villa Real area (and Spain) or west to Lagos, Sagres and the silver coast, just to save time. I have no qualms about using the N125 although it does take longer, but we're on holiday - so what's the rush? I know that the N125 has a bad reputation, but I think the gradual improvements over the last few years have made it a little safer. Lots of roundabouts have appeared at previously dodgey junctions and lots of sections have been widened.
I have to agree though, that the motorway does feel safer. However, tailgating van drivers are rife on both N125 and A22!

When he's got something new to say he'll say it, in the meantime old comments, speculation and conjecture are regurgitated and bandied back and forth to keep the topic alive.

Trouble is, we see a fresh post and think "Ah ha, something new", only to find it's the same old regurgitated stuff.

Just found this, although lt does not mention A22, it refers to the new regime for SCUT roads. Towards the end of the article it mentions the new details announced on 14th July 2011.
