Ellie,
We go to Luis Taberna all the time - He's a great guy and his good lady Isobel always has a happy smile on her face. The food is basic, superb, cooked well and very cheap. Combine this with the excellent hospitality they greet you with and you've got a better deal than anywhere in town. We're usually the only Brits there in the evenings, suppose this will change !
He's a West Ham supporter so don't say they're rubbish or your steak will be burnt !!
Cheers, might see you in there sometime in Sept.

Yes Luis is good and wish we could go there more often but the family like to have different choices which is fine as we get the low down on different places in the area. A Galeria is fine for the basics and sort-of-friendly service, whereas there are one or two places there couldn't give a dam about us - they just want our money and don't care how rude they are. Several people have mentioned Julios and it was just the same with us - 5 of us. We're not small people, but you'd have thought we were because we were virtually ignored and left alone - like so many other people it seems. Still we have a choice and ours is not to go back, although the secret seems to be do go back and become a regular. Not on your life!!

Please tell us where Luis Taberna is.....or would it be better not to tell everybody ?....We are always looking for good 'Local' restaurants rather than 'Restaurant hill'..

Ellie,Guest,

Spot on with your address and tel no Ellie. He does like you to give him at least an hour's notice in the evenings - He doesn't always light up his BBQ gear as a norm but will if you let him know.
Directions......in a laymans sort of way....It's on the road that links the Elephanto Azul car wash place and the Millennium Bank building in Lagoa.
If you approach from the Elephanto Azul end and go towards Lagoa, the road splits into three. On one of them you can just about see the Millennium Bank at the end (I think !!!)........It's half way up that road on the left.
Don't expect wonderful ambience and waiters with white cloths over their sleeves but you'll get hospitality, excellent humour from Luis (luvly jubbly from a Portuguese guy is quite funny), fantastic basic food with beer and wine coming out of the ying yang. When you ask for the bill, he does it in his head !
Best place around. TD don't you dare go in there - Stay in Julios !

Ellie,

Not sure where your Classique Restaurant is but try these directions.
Walk up to the Millennium BCP Bank from the pedestrian section and keep it on your left hand side. Turn 90 degrees to the right and Luis' is half way down that road on the right hand side. (At the end of this road is Elephanto Azul car wash). Or, if you are facing the door to the bank, directly behind you is the road, Rua Mouzinho de Albuqerque.
Hope this helps.
