Re: name that restaurant.....
Hi there - I was asking the same kind of question earlier in the month. Didn't get much feed back, just that it looked as if it was a mainly fish restaurant. Which is just fine by me.
Under the Restaurant Review section, someone else has asked also, seems people are reading everyones comments, but no one is answering, or no one has been in and tried it and has shared their experiences.
I would like to know as I am coming back out on 23 Sept. I'll be giving it a try myself then....

Walked by yesterday, does not look very interesting and prices are fairly high. The food will have to be good to get any reasonable trade.

Too bad that Thai restaurant went downhill (no pun) We ate there a few years ago and it wasn't too bad. Hard to believe with the same owners etc. that it could change so drastically.

The owners of the Thai restaurant have moved to a new restaurant near Porches, not sure of the exact location but you can ring the old number which was a mobile.

Does anybody know what happened to Poppy's restaurant? I stayed in a villa directly opposite it last year but there was a handwritten note on the door stating that due to unforeseen circumstances it had to close but would re-open in June! It was still closed in September when I arrived. Quite a few people drove or walked up to the premises only to be disappointed it was shut.

As far as I know it is now up for rent, the girl who had it had family problems and has left. Shame as it is one of our local restaurants. We might very well try the restaurant where the Thai used to be so we will report back....

Thanks, Lesley.I did hear that an English lady managed and it was doing well, but nobody seemed to know as to why it just seemed to shut down!

Poppy's was a sad loss as it was a very good restaurant.

She had a baby and then problems in the family which meant she had to walk away from it (as far as we could glean)James Faro wrote:Thanks, Lesley.I did hear that an English lady managed and it was doing well, but nobody seemed to know as to why it just seemed to shut down!
Having been in the hospitality trade this is one that I would love to do something with but we are still not over in Portugal enough to make it work.

It's in a beautiful location in that part of Carvoeiro but at the present economic climate, that restaurant would only be a seasonal undertaking, I assume. If it is still on the market to be rented out then confirms my doubts. A shame about that lady who had to give it up due to personal circumstances.
Re: name that restaurant.....
Disagree, it was a great winter restaurant for us ex pats. Pre order suckling pig and whole roast lamb, fish and chips on Fridays it was getting a good followingJames Faro wrote:It's in a beautiful location in that part of Carvoeiro but at the present economic climate, that restaurant would only be a seasonal undertaking, I assume. According to the waiter at Poppys they had ghosts in the restaurant for which he had photographs. The big mirror on the right as you walked in would reflect odd characters in it.
