Free maps

Post by nickos »

hello, the last time we visited Carvoeiro was in 2010. There were free maps available which showed the location of resturants and bars - are these still available? thanks

Gary, where can you download one? I've just taken a look and can't find it HERE, although there's an option to create your own - which aint much use seeing that you (probably) have no idea where anything is.

Michael, I have to admit I did not try and download it. However my GPS co,ordinate tomorrow evening will be 51.5202598571777 -0.0974100008606911 or very nearby as Gaynor will be singing in a club called Native Tongue. If ever you do get lost whilst staggering up restaurant hill then try http://www.multimap.com/ (not sure though it works for Portugal)

Go to . . . www.freemaps.net/download_map

It worked ok for me. Full list of available maps - just click on town to see the relevant map.

OOPS! Just tested my link above, but webpage reports a problem. However, if you Google Freemaps Portugal you can access the site that way from the Google page - the link is the third one down on my system.

There is a red tab at the top of the page which invites you to download original maps. They download as a PDF file which you can print off.

Meaning, what's the use of creating your own map if you don't know where the bars and restaurants etc, are?

These posts prompted me to have a browse through the online Freemaps for the various towns. For some reason they only show one side of the map for some places, including Carvoeiro, Almancil and others. I'm sure they used to show both sides of every map. Perhaps they are being updated.

Hi I do the distribution for Freemaps In Carvoeiro. If you go to the website www.freemaps.net & click on the Lagoa map it will give you the other side of the Carvoeiro map.
The new Spring edition is currently in production and will be on the streets in a week or so.
