Algrave in the Rain?

Hi

We are heading out to Carvoeiro on Satruday for a week with our 18 month old little boy.

We were looking forward to some nice days on the beach and generally mooching around but the weather forecast seems to be predicting rain

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we can do to entertain him around the area or further afield if this is the case?

We are arriving on Saturday with our 18 month old daughter ! Also wondering about this, such a shame seeing as the weather is gorgeous at home at the moment but I guess the rain is much needed too.
Was thinking the aquarium might be good or the pool at Lagoa? Is it likely to rain all day every day or mroe likely to be showers on and off??

If you have a car, then Parque da Juventude in Portimao is lovely for little ones. There are loads of exotic waterfowl, salamaders in the lake, swings, and a nice cheap snackbar.



It's not easy to find though. It's on my satnav, which helps.

That's the place. The sandy looking track is a BMX racetrack and the smaller tarmac track is for radio controlled cars, although the smaller kids ride their bikes, trikes, etc. around it. You can get out via the garage by the BMX track but you have to go round the houses to get in. There are signs if you look carefully.

I would try o'kido on the back road between Sesmarias and Ferragudo. They are open during the holidays and have a play centre, toys, activities etc - they have a good facebook page.
The city farm in Portimão is very good too for smaller children with horses, cows, ducks, a little play park etc. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Quinta-Pe ... 827?ref=ts . Head for Aqua Portimão then it is sign posted from there.
The leisure park in Silves is also a great bet and they also have an indoor swimming pool there so you can either walk about, go to the skate park, sit down by the river or all of the above. http://www.carvoeiro.com/Guide/silves_town
You could try a trip to the cinema in Portimão or Algarve Shopping http://www.carvoeiro.com/Guide/cinemas/
or.... take them to the museum in Portimão for something to do if it is raining http://www.carvoeiro.com/Guide/Portimao%20Museum
Then there is the karting track at the autodrome for bigger kids...

Don´t worry - I am sure you will find plenty to do!

For us that live here....the rain will be welcome, but for all the young families flying out here for Easter....what a disappointment!!

One of our sons and his family arrive tomorrow night for 12 days...I really hope that the forecasts that we are seeing are unnecessarily pessimistic....for their sake.....and for ours....entertaining kids for nearly 2 weeks, in poor weather, might be hard work!!!

It is still open with half of it used as a Dutch international school and the other half as the play centre. Just give them a call to find out what they are doing for Easter - I know they have plans and activities already planned.
