Acoustic Certificate for Villa

Post by wickhamwanderer »

I have searched the Forum to try and make sure I cannot be accused of repetition ! A few mentions of this being required on new builds but not the costs
Trying to get the above sorted out as the final frontier to applying for a Habitation certificate and am being quoted Euro 900 plus VAT for what I understand is a very straightforward job ! Can someone tell me please if this reasonable and typical for this type of work ? We have also been told its because there is only one person( firm) who does this in portugal and they are based in Porto ! Does you know of someone nearer ?
Any help would be very gratefully received.
Thanks

I understand these are easy to organise. Any architect or engineer should be able to point you in the right direction.

I paid €350 + IVA last month for an acoustic study. It takes about 1 hour involves some fairly hi tech kit & is probably pretty meaningless........but you need one.

This was to test an extension to an existing property so I can't be sue that you'd be comparing apples with apples?

we were notified by the camara that someone would arrive and that our architect was required to be there - Fee was €300 but my architect knocked him down to 250 - took an hour to do - he set up a noise generator in the middle of the lounge and two noise meters outside - front and back. Switched it on by remote outside and took the measurements - passed of course. Total waste of time, but jobs for the boys!

My thanks to all who have contributed to this short but purposeful ( well for me anyway) topic especially to Parasio .Thanks to Macassa as well since you were going to pm your contact as well .
Sr Horacio came yesterday ( 7th May) spent 70 minutes at the Villa doing the test report to be sent next week ! The power and use of the Forum ! I think the drinks are on me at the Sesmarias Bar when i am over next in July !

Looks like €250 to €275 plus IVA is the going rate.

Interesting to read that your architect reduced the cost for you. My intermediary agreed to an increase to charge €400 plus IVA. I had to haggle to keep it at €350,!

In conclusion the Certificate has been now been issued and the cost was Euro 225 IVA ( 276.75) so absolutely excellent result ! A good saving on other prices indicated here.My first posting of this thread to the forum was on 30th April 2012. Who says everthing moves slowly in Portugal ! Thanks again to 'Paraiso' and all who contributed on this small but important thread.

Congratulations "wickhamwanderer",a very good result that just goes to prove what I have sensed for some time. Intermediaries don't always represent your best interests sometimes they just look after themselves. I will be more careful in future.
