Re: The Sliding Euro

From my point of view things are pretty much on a par with last year, maybe a bit up. Things aren't fantastic but they aren't bad either, although I must say 34% does seem a bit high. We work very hard for our owners and would hate to think that we take them for granted in any way, but I do know of a couple of agencies who could possibly be accused of doing so.

However taking into account what others have said then that figure will include duplication.

We are looking for new owners for 2013 - and before I get jumped on - we DO advertise with cvo.com and are on a number of their pages. :) The demand for the high season will always be good but we are finding that June and September are busier than ever.

Most of our owners will probably find that their rent will be slightly better than 2011 which was a fairly good year all round, but you are right when you say that there is a lot of competition on the ownersdirect website, plus some startlingly disparities on rental figures per week.

The euro taking a drop will always help as will recent press articles about the Algarve being one of the cheapest/best value places to go on holiday.

I can't see it ever going back to £1 = 1.40 euros but stranger things have happened! :)

All run promotions, Holiday lettings was giving 3 months for £1.99 for new advertisers.
New property adverts always attract more interest.

As in any business owners should shop around, change sites etc.

Your agent is your supplier and should not take you for granted, which I am sure many do.
So they're not duplicated on the Owners Direct site as you implied they just advertise on more than one site which seems sensible.
Owners Direct belongs to Holiday-Rentals ( or Home and Away as they are now called) Advertisers on one site are given good discounts to repeat the ad on the other site.

Sterling dropped even more than the Euro !
With oil prices some 15% down over the last month do you think we will see pump prices down by the equivalent?    No Chance
