Jeff Sader
advice given
Steen Jaobsen, I will certainly keep your advice in mind when I visitSteen Jakobsen wrote:Jeff Sader - a tiny advice; stay out of Spain! Most restaurants open at 10 in the evening
Spain again, thankyou.
Life is a learning process, one thing I have learned in the last few days.
Never, but never offer any suggestion on any of the customs or habits
of a foreign country, you will most likely get your head handed to you
on a plate...but never till after 6:30 in the evening.

Here's another thought.... Owning a restaurant in Carveiro (doesn't matter which one) We usually open noon-3 then from 6 till when ever. The reason we close for those 3 hours is so we have some quite time to do the prep for the evening. With customers coming and going all day, I would have to pay an extra person to do that, this way I don´t.
To be totally honest the amount of $$ I make from 3-6 doesn't pay for the electricity.
And lastly, in the summer, the after noon person has to come back in the evening to help out, this way he or she can relax at little between shifts. I hope this helps you to understand some of the reasons why restaurants close afternoons.

good grief!!
I feel like a marked man, I had better go incognito into any of the
restaurants in Carvoeiro.
Can you imagine what would have happened if I have questioned the
sexual habits of the Portuguese..??

I know Jeff, it is scary isn't it I spent a couple of years dipping in and out of this forum and its' old style bulletin board before I plucked up the courage to put anything on it for fear of getting my head bit off (And usually anonymously at that).
I research each of my entries factually before I post them just in case . . . heaven forbid that you should express a mere opinion!
Anyway Jeff now you have mentioned sexual habits, you will set blondelle's heart a fluttering and hands a trembling so I shall look forward to being embroiled within . . .

How could you possibly think such a thing of me--convent taught innocent that I am-----------
But I definitely feel under "currants"(I must remember its food topic) going on here and I dont think you need any imput from me do you?
I get in quite enough trouble as it is--dont think "Jeff" will be the only one having to go "incognito" when I visit my "favourite" spot!
Maddi you :twisted:you---- I promised faithfully to stick with my garden today--but suddenly re-potting my tomato plants doesnt seem so interesting and Im tempted back to the "Arena" sorry, mean forum!
Got to go now--"early" dinner to cook,
A bientot,Ellie.

You could well be right--think ill keep my fingers well away from those little grinning fiends--mind you, I remember being called insolent in class (just for asking innocent question on Greek classics) and made big mistake by laughing--well,it was a big word and didnt know meaning--thought it was a compliment--punishment --100 lines--think it marked me for life--thats why Im so "shy" now,erm erm--if you believe that----------

Ellie the gardener!
Early birds & food!
Yeah, youre right Cowboy-shall we turn back to Jeffs topic of being able to eat earlier in the evening? or is he satisfied with answers already given?
A main part of enjoying your holiday is being able to have good quality, tasty food and with a young family meals that do not come expensive. But Im sure he will find all this and the nice thing is how children are welcomed in Portuguese eating establishments--at least Ive always found it so.
That Blondelle in mentioning "getting lines " for being insolent at school -of course this was written lines of "I must not be insolent in class"--one hundred times.
Liked Heinis "O brother " remark--quick & witty & ten out of ten !
Cant blame me( Imean Blond elle) for bringing in S word --it goes back before that Cowboy--come on,step forward--now was it J or M
Have a nice evening.

I'm Off!
Hi Everyone
Just in case you are wondering why I am running amok through every topic and heading on this forum this evening (I doubt you were but I like to think you care
- thats my ingratiating smile) it is because tomorrow afternoon I am off to Skiathos for a fortnight and will be bereft of this forum and the "friends" I have met on it - I shall, of course, miss you all terribly including our mystery guest (Mr Nasty) who if nothing else facilitiates me to experience the full range of human emotions just while reading an internet forum, Ellie I am not sure how much of you I shall miss as I am fully of the mind to take a large dose of sexual innuendo with me (well I am on holiday
).
Anyway, bearing in the mind the above, I shall be making a darn nuisance of myself in the short while I have left before I jet off into the sun for two weeks' R'n'R - you will have noticed I hope that I am endeavouring to keep my responses researched and considered albeit prolific.
