Reports that rood of Silves swimmimg pool destroyed, motor homes overturned.

If Roy or jaylay are out there and can get on line hopefully they can give us all first hand reports.

It was an amazing storm, violent rain, thunder and constant lightening for about 2 hours between 12 and 2.

I saw a major lightening strike in the Monte Carvoeiro area, and another one toward Lagos.

If my pool is anything to go by, over an inch of rain in 2 hours.

Phone and cable TV was down for a couple of hours. Several power cuts.

The sea was like a cauldron with huge waves, with storm force winds, and over 2 metres of sand gone off Centiannes Beach.

I think that the east side of Carvoeiro, whilst battered is relatively undamaged compared to areas inland and to the west of the village.

If anybody is desperately worried and wants their place checking out, call me on 07748 655065.

It is now 5-30 and the wind has dropped, and the sky brighter with clear patches.....we could be even in for a nice sunset....the cloudbase is a golden colour.

So far 8 wounded have been reported. Rumours about fatalities (in Silves) are not confirmed.

Just spoken with CVO and the main damage is in the Carvoeiro Clube area, roofs gone and gardens destroyed.

Just heard that Vila Nova is okay, but Monte Santo (next door) lost a few roofs
Everyone has been told to stay in their homes

Thanks. From the posts above it appears that any damage would be to the apartments which are at the Tennis Club/ JdP end. Our house is at the Villa Nova end.
