Car Hire Quote
Re: Car Hire Quote
Licy we were not charged any extra for having the car delivered to our villa by Locauto than we would have been if we had picked it up at the airport.
I have never seen zitauto's prices on their website, I must be looking in the wrong place.

OK thanks, maybe they do that for some and not others. I reckon these pain killers are making me more nutty than usual. maybe I sent them an email at ZIT. What I know in my drowsy state is they were more expensive than TR.bruce wrote:Licy we were not charged any extra for having the car delivered to our villa by Locauto than we would have been if we had picked it up at the airport.

Re: Car Hire Quote
Bruce your link didn't open for me, I tried through another link and the price from the airport or pick up in Carvoeiro was exactly the same.
Re: Car Hire Quote
I haven't a clue about them being brothers - all I know is I started using Zit 16 years ago and the boss Sidonio used to work in the car park as it was early days.LICY wrote:Yes the webs site was a lot more expensive than TR, but being brothers that probably started off together in business, then set up their own business must compete against each other. We have used TR for 11 years, but did try YOR last year.cereza wrote:Waste of time contacting Zit through the web site. Contact them direct at zitauto@mail.telepac.pt
I have used them for 16 years and have put loads of business their way and never a problem. They only operate out of the airport though but I still prefer to do this than mess about with transfers and the cost is reasonable when you consider the whole package.
prices good too after saying they were expensive and not to charge us for arriving later than 9pm. We often found them difficult to locate in the P4 car park as the van was not always on site so we had to phone.
I think in my earlier post it's pretty clear the charge for collecting in CVO seems to rule out hiring a car. Certainly with our villa it is possible not to have a car once you sort out the airport trip. no idea what the people intended to do with their few days, which makes all the difference on renting a car in my view. For us we always have a car for the convenience.
When i stayed in Praia da Luz I used Luz Cars, who are based in Lagos, for delivery and collection at the villa and there was no extra charge. It might be worth asking them what they want for CVO delivery and collection. Try luzcarrentacar@sapo.pt

After many years of using Auto Jardim, we used Algarvedriver/Yor, as advertised on this site, via Steen - Excellent service & very reasonable price - nice car also, Nissan Note - Highly recommended

Re: Car Hire Quote
I know it may sound petty, but in spite of all the praise received on here of YOR, (well if not on here....where??
), I have never used them because whilst they always say they will match another company's rate, they will never give you that best rate straight up.
So if company "A" offer me a price of X, YOR only offer to match it.....why should I go with YOR??
Seems abit like John Lewis, "Never knowingly undersold".....if you can prove that say, Debenhams, are 10% cheaper, John lewis will match that, but their list prices are usually higher.

Re: Car Hire Quote
One reason for going with Algarvedriver is the loyalty bonus. It means that we normally get a free week in the winter. Linked with their good service I don't mind if they are not actually the cheapest.
Re: Car Hire Quote
Economy Car Hire also do a loyalty points system.

Re: Car Hire Quote
I have just this minute made a couple of bookings with Algarvedriver. For once, I did try some alternative quotes but you never seem to get apples for apples and it's not easy to compare. Better the devil you know. However, I'm collecting at 10pm on one of the trips and the extra €15 is a bitter pill! That's the price of a good night out!
Re: Car Hire Quote
An example of car hire price for travel 27April to 4 May is €100, no late collection fee, but you do have the €20 euros for tolls on top. that is refundable if no tolls used. We did not get loyalty points from Akgarvecar possibly because of the comparable price. I have to say AC was far cheaper in September that TR.
