I don't think Michael O'Leary makes an arbitrary decision and impose/increase charges. He must have a team of planners and projection experts on the implications of increasing charges. If this was a "no brainer" they'd drop the decision. Their primary motive is profit - obviously! You fly Budget you get Budget!

Some of their advertising gimmicks hilariously upset the non-budget airlines. I have often see at Stansted, Ryanair 737s emblazoned in huge writing "Auf Wiedersehen Lufthansa!"

It would appear that Lufthansa are not going down without a flight. We have just returned from Berlin via Heathrow for 120 euros each on new spotloessly cleah aircraft, on time, with snack and drinks plus 23 kilos luggage allowance each - compared to 154 euros EJ and 125 euros RA !!

The latest moan is from the seat blockers who buy seats A & C or D & F and then moan when someone wants to sit in their allocated seat between them.

One of the few things that annoy me on a flight. Mr and Mrs sitting in two seats, seperated by the middle seat, which is covered in papers, books, cardigans etc to discourage anyone form even trying to sit there. If there is plenty of spare seating, no harm done, but usually with EJ & RY the aircraft are pretty full and the last passengers to board are walking up and down looking for a seat anywhere, never mind where to stow their on board bag. I would love if EJ made a point of allocating those centre 'free' seats to single passengers, who would of course actually then get to sit in the aisle seat as mr and mrs would join each other again,( begrudginlgly giving up 'their' empty seat)

You can't argue with that Roy, and from Heathrow too! Not sure if this is now the norm or just a promotional offer but a competition must have played a part in it. In a couple of years time it is not inconceivable that the budgets will start a limited service from Heathrow too! Who knows!

Cant see any of the budgets getting the slots or paying the landing fees for Heathrow flights - It is already at 97% capacity.

Unless Ryanair get lucky with their takeover of Aer Lingus (unlikely but still possible) - then they would have slots
