Holiday flights rip-off

The problem is not with schools taking their holidays at the same time. The problem is with the parasites at the airline companies trying to screw everyone over all the time.
Just look at how many people are now holidaying in the UK.
Unfortunately, I dont think Schools taking their holidays at different times could ever work, what with exam timetables etc.
There should be some form of legal jargon that the government could employ in order to stop the airline companies pulling everyones pants down everytime there is a school holiday!!

There are only so many flights. The airlines are a commercial business. If lots of people want a limited number of product... then the price rises. Deal with the supply and demand issue of everyone wanting that specific week and the problem goes away. You really can't blame the airlines - if they really were too expensive then the plans would be empty. They're full... so evidently the price is fine

The government really have no business meddling in what prices private companies can charge!

ny tuppence worth. I use both Dublin and Belfast. Ryanair, EasyJet and Aer Lingus. There is absolutely no doubt that next years prices are way up on this years prices. All round, all airlines. For the past 3 years I have got flights to Faro in Aug return Sept for under €300 for both of us return (converting the Belfast prices to €). Not a chance next year. So I am thinking of changing to Sept out and back (can still scrape under the €300 with RY) I have just returned from Portugal and the TOTAL cost of the return flights were €163.96 for the two of us, out at 11.15 and return at 16.15, so decent times. October is not available anywhere yet but what are the chanaces of getting even close to that price next year? Zero chance. I too have flown into Lisbon, enjoyed a few days in the city and took the train down. Think it was €27 each in first class (there are only 2 of us, expensive for a family). And there was Michael on the BBC telling us all that in a few years time he could foresee completely free flights with just the 'extras' to pay.

Easy Jet from Liverpool 9.35 am departure in June 14 - return flight in July 13.00 departure - £141.00 each, plus luggage (£319 for 2)
I don't think this is a bad price at all, even cheaper with Ryan Air but silly times.
I pay £120 return from Man to London Heathrow with BA or £140 return by train first class (get a decent breakfast on weekdays though )

Ryanair are going to allocate seats. At last. Maybe now passengers will use the seats at departure gates instead of forming a queue, even when the plane hasn't even arrived yet.

Having got all my e-mails from Flybe going back to 2009 (sad, I know) I have found that this year's fare is the lowest yet.

In 2009, it cost £908 for 3 of us. 2010 to 2011 approx £1050 for 4 of us.

This year, £960 for 4 adults. All flights booked in October previous year going from Southampton to Faro mid-July.

Goes to show Flybe are not all that bad after all.
