break-in
After 5 years in CVO had the house broken into sunday afternoon at ~2pm. Our friends were at the house and went to Intermarche for no more than 30 mins - came back and the rear patio had been jemmied open, some cheapo jewellery had gone and they had jemmied the one wall safe off the wall and taken it. Fortunately it contained mainly documentation which can be replaced, although there was an expensive pair of diamond/emerald earings in there. Fortunately we are insured. Alarm system is now being changed to one that signals at the GNR and we are having concertina "doors" fitted to all patios and windows, as well as the shutters.
Realistically you have to admire them - 2pm on a sunday and they climbed back over the wall carrying a 25kg safe!

Sorry to hear of your break in. We were broken into on 27 June (see my post) and anther incident happened to another forum member on the same day
It's a dreadful feeling and I have not been able to sleep or settle since and have now put the place on the market this morning
It seems rife at the moment

Rampas Solferias. I read of aldo's problems and thought that I had been lucky - typical!
Re: break-in
Have all the breakins reported on here been in the same area/locality?

Re: break-in
No - regretfully, I tell everyone that break-ins are a national sport in Portugal. I was broken into in Val de Reis several years ago and similarly in Sesmarias - although I caught the last one in the act and he ran off with a very bad head (chairs do that don't they?)
Re: break-in
So sorry. Do you think it is anything to do with the rental people? Hug and kiss to you both. Did not realise your safe was that heavy. Does your alarm take pictures? Was it on?
