monitored alarm companies recommendations&prices

Post by shaz1967 »

Hello fellow members
I am just doing a search around for the best companies to use for a monitored alarm company. The property currently has a system that was installed&monitored by "Proeseguer" who charge €154 per quarter. Can anybody tell me if this price is consistent with other alarm companies please ? I can see on surrounding properties that "Stanley", "Securitas" & another couple which i cannot remember the names of.

I use the same company & they charge €497 per annum, so I reckon you have room to negotiate. Good luck.

Thank you very much for that Widge, can i just ask if you have the standard monitored alarm that when activated the alarm man arrives pretty quickly on a motorbike, i only ask these questions so as to see if we have a similar service.

Yes, they ring the house phone first to see if the occupants answer and if they do they ask for the security code. If no answer they send in the guards pronto !

This might be a useful exercise as we might discover that we're both paying too much !

Charon took 40min to get to us after the alarms were set off, I arrived before them so did my work colleagues from Lagoa.
Securitys Direct dont even come out unless your paying a top tariff.

Hi Shaz,

I misled you. Having checked my contract I am with Charon, the values i gave you are accurate. I got confused cos my alarm bell on the villa says Prosecom. I think there were some mergers & takeovers among the security companies in the past.
Which makes me even more interested in what Maccasa says?

Thank you everybody for your contributions . Andy says that Charon are poor at responding which makes me very concerned about using them as in my opinion a fast response is vital. The previous owner of my property did tell me that Proseguer were very quick in responding usually the motorbike response man was there within 5 minutes. I think it is good that fellow members add their comments as it is a way for us all to find the best services at the best prices. I am still waiting for responses from a few companies but i will post the reply's i get from them (if they decide to reply that is!)

I had the same story that securitas never responded by the police - they always called the first name on the list, saving the call out charge to the police!

If it's of any help, I have had Securitas for the past four years and was advised when first installed and purchased, that should the Alarm be activated, if they can not contact me personally, then they would call a key holder who would meet the Police on the premises to allow access.
However, for the first time on Saturday, the Alarm was activated, I was called, but did not have my phone available at the time. When I returned home, I realised the Alarm had been activated. I called the company and they advised me that one of the sensors had been triggered, this was caused by a fault, dead Battery!
I asked as to why the Police had not been called, they advised me that they had, but did not respond and then proceeded to try and sell me an additional service for many Euros, which I declined. When I raised the point about the Police, I was advised to speak to them to enquire as to why they did not respond. Have not done so yet!
I was then advised that the lack of Police presence is a very rare ocurance , oh yes!
I would suggest that whoever you chose, that you get all their procedures in writing!
