What would you like to see in Carvoeiro in 2015?
What would you like to see in Carvoeiro in 2015?
Happy 2015 forum users! If you could make a wish list of things you would like to see in Carvoeiro in 2015 what would you put on it?
I think for me it would be the bleaching of all the pillars and posts along Rua do Barranco to remove the deposits left by our local dog population!!
Any other suggestions?

The bleaching of the pillars would be an improvement to the street..The street looks very run down from the vets. Think also dog owners should take responceability for their dogs dropping. i dont know if there is a law in place. Most dog owners have the poop bags but its the few who dont cause the mess.I have seen children of holiday visitors walk in the mess. Not good for Carvoeiro.

I would like to see a restaurant offering a tourist menu ike the restaurants in Pera do. A menu with a variety of starters, main and deserts, including couvert, wine, tea or coffee for 12 euros.

The Escondidinho up on the Quinto does that, but I would still prefer McDonalds

My particular bugbear are the rubbish red plastic chairs and tatty tables at Smilers.
Its in such a prominent position, that some nice outdoor furniture possibly with large cream umberellas (the interior designer in me coming out now)
would transform the whole corner of the square

I would love to see a few 'permanent' trees in the square, some nice palms would enhance the square - it just looks so dull and boring.

Vimar does for about 9.50 , also we were told by a local last Oct that if a restaurant is open at lunchtime they have to offer a tourist menu by lawmardi wrote:I would like to see a restaurant offering a tourist menu ike the restaurants in Pera do. Agree with American pie about permanent trees. The old square was so much more inviting, with circular seating in the centre which attracted local Portuguese people to sit there. However, we are only in town during the winter months, so perhaps that did not happen in the summer? I would like to see some large pots of flowering shrubs, which would soften the harsh look of the "new square" and some benches with backs on them. They have done a really good job at Armacao de Pera with comfortable benches, and also with the design of the calcadas (cobblestones) which are much more appealing than the angles we have in Carvoeiro. Traffic flow by the square is not good either, it needs to be more pedestrian friendly and to keep car emissions away from people.

Definitely not a McDonalds!
CVO is doing well with regualr entertainment in Summer. However, I would like to see this start earlier in May when the families are visiting with small children. Many English families take taheir main 2 weeks at the end of May in the Whit holidays as the primary schools are on hols for 2 weeks. The entertainment starts 1 June so I feel the town is missing a trick. A few years ago there was an Abba trubute band which was fab, it would be good to see this back.
Also, a circular bus around the town similar to the train would be good to hop on and off. It was also help with the parking issues in high season and take the pressures off the taxi rank who have massive queues. It would certainly encourage me to come into the centre more often in high season. I am put off by the walk back or the long taxi queues.

I would agree with Aldo, it would be nice if possible to have the summer entertainment start earlier and a hop on/off bus would also be great. I personally would like to see more of the fine work that was done tidying up the buildings on the in road, possibly on some of the buildings at the top of the hill past o castelo. It would also be great to see o bote open up again.
All this said, I must say that I think alot of really good improvements have taken place in Carvoeiro already in the past while....and i also second, no McDonalds

Agree with the comments about the dog mess , we were over late October and it was really bad . Surely wouldn't be too hard for the GNR to catch and fine those responsible . Also think it would be good if the wee train stopped at a few points to let people off and on , I'm thinking Rocha Brava etc . Also at different points on the walkway maybe some of those information boards pointing out and detailing different species of birds , lizards , snakes , plants that you may see in the area .

I'm sure all those kids would love McDonald's, the reason the little Train does not stop anywhere is to appease the Taxi Drivers, they were up in arms a few years back when the train used to stop which they saw as unfair competition.Aldo wrote:Definitely not a McDonalds!
