Charity collections

We also saw these people dressed in red on the same stretch of road last weekend. Nearly jumped in front of our car trying to stop us. No one was actually stopping for them so we also did not stop. seemed a strange place to try to collect donations.
We also were asked at Intermarche if we would like to fill a carrier bag by the scouts. These youngsters looked genuine and a vehicle with Lagoa on was collecting filled bags. We did fill a bag there.

I did speak to the wife of a bombeiros, who said they wouldn't collect in such a manner!

I've seen the scouts at Pingo Doce also, reckon they are genuine!

These men had writing on their jackets although it wasn't Bombeiros, possibly veterans or something along those lines.
We also had a caller from the charity collector, last year it was for Easter eggs for the poor,this year, just for poor children.
When I declined he left muttering, but did seem to have lots of leaflets, papers and an id around his neck possibility he was genuine.

To update my original post. By chance i found a receipt for a donation i made some months ago & on that was a web site and email address. I have emailed said charity (which I won't name) and should I receive a response will keep you informed.

It must be tough for all charities during these austere times as demand grows and gifting shrinks.

The red-dressed guys were at the roundabout between Pingo and Aldi again on Saturday, looking quite official in waving us down, but we carried on....quite a few cars were stopped.

They were the Bomberios from Lagoa Firestation, and they were carrying ID

They were most certainly not from Lagoa firestation. I went into Lagoa fire station last year with an out of date raffle ticket I had just bought at the Fatacil lights/roundabout and they confirmed that the collectors are imposters.

Funny though, we followed a GNR patrol car over that roundabout, and they didnt stop and challenge the collectors!
