Work at Faro Airport
Work at Faro Airport
Does anybody know what is happening at Faro Airport. When I took my daughter to catch her flight on Tuesday and it looked as though they were putting up barriers to charge for dropping off.
Re: Work at Faro Airport
It looked like that to me when I saw it. Hopefully the ticket on entry will give a short period of time without charge when you exit to cover a quick drop off but I would not bet on it.
Re: Work at Faro Airport
Arrivals is 10 minutes free then charged, so I would guess departures will be the same.

Re: Work at Faro Airport
Charging for drop-off/pick-up seems to be the norm now. Glasgow has free drop-off, but fee for pick-up (Police patrol drop-off to move on anyone waiting for pick-up to avoid going into fee charging pick-up zone!!). Edinburgh charges for both (pick-up/drop-off in same area) £1 for, I think, first 10 minutes. Prestwick has first 10 minutes free for both.
Personally, Faro introducing the fee charging together with their 'war' on P4 car hire companies is making the airport a very unfriendly tourist airport.
Just saying.

Surely not, Roy. That's too logical.roy4eyes wrote:Arrivals is 10 minutes free then charged, so I would guess departures will be the same.
Remember, it's in Portugal and it's owned by a French company.

Re: Work at Faro Airport
At Belfast International the shared pick-up and drop-off costs £1 for 10 minutes. It's a ticketless barrier system with numberplate recognition and payment on exit.
If a similar system is being introduced in Faro the system could possibly be pre-programmed with registration numbers of hire cars and rental/transfer company minibuses so they can be prevented from entering or surcharged for failing to use P4 like they're supposed to, while allowing 'normal' rates for everyone else.
