Pet Friendly Hotel in Salamanca

Post by CJG »

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good Pet Friendly Hotel in Salamanca with parking. This is my first trip back driving alone with my dog, I am looking for something that will be easy for me to find , not far from the main route I will be taking from Carvoeiro, Seville, Salamanca, Bilbao.

many thanks

Not Salamanca, but I have stayed at the Palacio de Arenales near Caceres. The hotel is just off the main highway, very quiet and smart, with all the usual amenities. They charge 30 Euros extra for a pet to stay in the room. Carvoeiro to Caceres is 300 miles and Caceres to Bilbao is about 380 miles.

Hi

We have stayed at the IBIS in Salamanca with our dog. It is right in the centre of Salamanca and has a private underground car park (it is quite tight parking in there but there is also street parking outside hotel).
There is a little park area across the road which was good for taking the dog out.

Another one we have used regularly and is our main preference when driving back from Carvoeiro is the Novotel in Vallodilid which is about an hour from Salamanca. This has both private parking and street parking and there is a decent enough area round about to walk the dog. Also right next to a Macdonalds if you don't want to eat in the hotel and just fancy some fast food :D

Any of the Accor chain accept pets and we have always found them to be very good (also give out a pet goody bag with dog treats etc at check in )

That's great, thank you so much for both your comments, I really appreciate it. I am not aware of the route to Caceres, how long does that take from Carvoeiro?

Think I will stick to Salamanca, funnily enough, I had looked at the Ibis. With regards to Vallodilid, how long does that take from Seville?

thanks

Sorry Cathie
no idea how long from Seville as we usually go up by Lisbon and across in to Spain at Vila Formosa, heading for Salamanca/Vallodolid then on to Santander.
Vallodolid is a bit further up than Salamanca , think about an hour further, so if you add that on to your timing from Seville shouldn't be too far out.

Hi Cathie, although you have already decided on Salamanca, for the record it's all motorway from Lagoa to Caceres, easy driving and takes 4 to 5 hours depending on how fast you drive. I set the cruise control to 80mph and generally average about 72 to 75 mph. Enjoy your stay in Salamanca. :D
