We have had Eco-sense aircon controllers for 3 years now, and they definitely save you money.

Most rental clients dont give a toss if they run the aircon with the doors open, or leave them on for hours, and over the length of a season with a 3 or 4 bed villa that can mount up to about 500 euros extra and unnecessary electricity costs.

The way they work is that there is an electronic eye mounted in the room, and that controls the aircon via an Ecosense controller, not the normal aircon controller.

The ecosense is programmed to detect movement in the room, and during daylight, if there is no movement detected in the room, it switches the aircon off after 15 minutes inactivity.
After dark it will leave the aircon on until 2am, and then switch it off.
The max and min temperature range of the aircon unit can also be set discretely in the programming of the ecosense controller.

Bruce they sound like a fantastic thing to have that will save you lots of €€€s. How much will it cost to have that system installed on a 3 bed room villa which has 4 units installed ,1 in each bedroom & 1 in the lounge

I take it that the controler is £250.00 not the full package ?

That's the complete package installed John. Pedro from Lamy Electronics is the man. €233 + IVA is the correct quote I just double checked.

We have just had air conditioning installed in our bedroom and the additional cost on top of the aircon unit was € 150 through SACL.

I paid £50 a unit and installed them myself. A 20 minute job, including the programming of the controllers.
Mine are run off batteries, which you are advised to replace at the beginning of each season.
£250 a unit sounds like somebody is taking the proverbial!

Looks like there are 3 levels of ecosense. 1 entry level, battery operated. 2 Mid range, hard wired. 3 Hard wired working in conjunction with door & window sensors. The different levels would explain the vast difference in the prices. It sounds like that the entry level is suited to people who already have units installed & maybe the hard wired installations would suit people who are installing them & will have to hard wire them anyway.
