Ellie,
That 13 age thing is built into phpbb (as an option). It's some american rule I think, (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).

two current topics:
“in time” started by guest with 42 replies from guest mostly
“funny innit?” started by guest with 54 replies from guest mostly

if we ban guest then we ban these topics....dont we?

Hmmmmm…………….still haven’t voted yet

No, Digger. They'd simply become members and post them.

Look at the two sections limited to members only 'events' and 'restaurant reviews'. Riveting aren't they?

SAM SPARKLE wrote:As we have several sections in the Forum perhaps we could add a ''Guest'' section whereby first time users and people wanting to make inquiries could post their questions/requests, this could be open to all. therefore anybody can answer/give advice. We could then make the rest of the Forum Registered users only, with over 700 hundred people registered and growing, I'm sure that's enough to keep the craic going. I know this does not answer the problem of users having multiple ID's but at least it would be a start.
I have to say that I agree with Sam Sparkle view above. I am fairly new to this forum and never saw the need to post anonymouslyso registered before doing so, if I have a view then I'm happy to own it. The guest section seems a good way to me of allowing users who just want to ask a quick question to do so.

Hi Girlie, thats well known, justed wanted one of them to offer an explanation, can't see the point myself unless its for dubious reasons...

I was a guest myself for a few years before I took the plunge, not so bad once you're in.

Now that’s interesting Sam and it was the same for me too….well I was a guest for 2 or 3 months before registering. I’d never posted anything on a site before!
Ok there are more and more of these forums around now and I guess if you are already a member of another phpBB you know the score, but I think there must be a lot of old fogies retiring to Algarve who are not too familiar with this kind of thing who might feel like contributing something without “taking the plunge”
………so this is a good reason why we should allow guests on here……but I don’t suppose it outweighs the fact that most guests are bad news.

Re: the member who may post logged off………..I have been known to do this but only when having a larf for example: “CIA” and “mi6” on the Funny Innit topic…I was feeling a bit mischievous last Saturday. It may not be v funny but it’s harmless.
