Walk 18 November 2025 : Ourique/Barragem

Hi all

Linda & Russell have kindly agreed to lead this walk , to some Barragems, rather than the more hilly walk I am familiar with. Not sure of time, somewhere between 2 and 2.5 hours I expect.

Degree of Difficulty : It is probably a grade 2.5.

Start : 10.00, but please be there by 0945 if you want a coffee/order lunch....hopefully open by then.

Meeting Point: Restaurant Ourique,.

Directions: Drive to Lagoa and turn left on the N125. Drive to the the Portimao/Monchique exit and follow the N124 directions Monchique/Silves. At the roundabouts keep right and follow the signs for Silves. The restaurant is on the right side of the road on a sharp bend before Odelouca. Please park just before the restaurant.

Alternatively, as there are still roadworks on the N125 bridge, drive to Silves, over the bridge , turn left and drive on N124 for 10km, when restaurant will be on your left.

Lunch . The restaurant does a set meal but there are limited choices and if you want the a la carte, it will cost more. Hopefully, it will be sunny enough to eat outside. Prices are up a bit, expect to pay about 17/18€ pp.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain ( v unlikely!).....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0800 on the day of the walk. Numbers are limited to 20, please sign up & indicate if you will want lunch.

Table booked, but a bit doubtful if open for coffee beforehand. I think there are still roadworks on N125 Bridge, so short trip on A22 might be better.

A beautiful sunny day in the end...Ourique shut for coffee, but we joined Carolyn & Rob at coffee in Porto Lagos in the sun.....must try that pace one day for lunch...... anyway, 15 walkers, 11 lunchers...and Toby...

I think it was one of those where the lunch took longer than the walk....
