Ellie's Corner

Post by Jeff Sader »

I need some clarification...is Blondelle, guest Elle and Ellie's Corner all
the same person?
I read all of "Ellie's Corner" this afternoon and didn't nod off once,
not bad stuff. :)
Do we have another Ruth Banks in the making?

Thanks for reading the corner Jeff--and Im glad I didnt send you to sleep!
I registered as Blondelle on my first visit here (early March I think) and I read on home page another ladys experience in Algarve(in the 60s)--did you read it? about buying land near Carvoeiro&little story of a donkey?
I e-mailed Steen with the story of man with gun at a pensione and he askd if I had more--so I sent a couple and he was kind enough to give me the"corner". All the stories are true-we were there just a couple of years, but believe me each day was an adventure. I keep them short, though i could write pages on each, and i lost count of all the people we met there.
Ive only read a little of Ruth Banks but you seem to know more about her.Where does she live inAlgarve?
Although Ive had a few things published :articles, letters etc.I dont claim to be a writer and Im very amatuerish-I just write as I feel. I have a confession to make---when I wrote the tiny piece on "Homesickness"--it all came back so vividly that I did cry again as I wrote it. Of course, now I feel the opposite and Im very homesick for Algarve-especially Lagoa and of course, our favourite spot "Carvoeiro"-my heart is there.
Thanks for your kind words.I do appreciate them, muito obrigada, Ellie.
P.S.Did you notice "Michael Cranes" contribution for "balancy" hat on Gentlemen of Lagoa piece/ I hope hes forgiven me for calling that character "Miguel"-that is Portuguese for Michael isnt it? I didnt mean to imply that he was like that--just a bit of fun Michael

Thanks Cowboy--thats so nice of you--glad you enjoyed them---hope the homesick one didnt make you feel miserable ? It didnt happen very often but I felt I had to write it,as the feeling was so strong.
Sellin up and moving to a new country is a very big decision to take. Its not a bit like going on holiday where you just go for a week or two.We didnt have anything in England to go back to--sold home, all furniture, gave away clothes (just bought summer things)-- anyway, Coop ,I wont go on--just say I wouldnt change any of it -- except having to come back !
A wonderful, wonderful time --I was really alive & and each day was a challenge!
Have a lovely evening, nite,Ellie. :D
