RECOMMENDATIONS ON FLYING FROM THE UK TO FARO.

Hi,

I'm planning to visit Carvoeiro this Easter and will be staying in a friends appartment for a week. I will be flying from the SW of England (Bristol area) to Faro.
What I am after is recomendations on which airline to use and where to buy tickets.
People have told me that you can fly from Birmingham or Bristol for £30 return with FlyB or Easyjet. Unfortunately, when I check flight costs with them its more like £120 return PP.
Can anyone recommend a source of these 'cheap' flights?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You have left it too late to get the bargains although easyjet have a sale on currently so it might be worth another look. Try Monarch - my son got a cheap bristol faro flight with them.

It seems there has been a bit of misleading info given to you - you CAN get the sort of prices you are mentioning from EasyJet BUT only by booking a longish way ahead and for for times where demand is high, like Easter, all the cheapies will have gone long ago.

I use EasyJet from Faro to EMA and back every month and the best price I got for the quietest time of year (late Jan to early Feb) was about £46 return (incl ALL taxes etc) but I booked those within 5 minutes of the winter schedules being released (in about September).

The rates you mention (about £120) for Easter are actually not bad by comparison to others at this stage.

Incidentally despite what they want you to believe EasyJet are not that cheap if compared to say RyanAir but the Faro route is a very popular one (Ryan dont fly from UK I think - only Ireland) and they dont see a need to be as cheap as we would like - I have never seen the Faro - EMA flight with less than 120 on it at any time of year. Its all down to supply and demand.

Another possible option (maybe) could be MyTravel from Birmingham ?? - I know its a long way but might be worth checking out although for Easter time probably you wont do a lot better. Good hunting

Try logging on to www.skyscanner.net.
This tracks several of the low-cost airlines and you can look across a month and see which is the best deal. it saves time searching each flight co separately

I fly regularly from Bristol to Faro with Easyjet. The average cost over the last 10 bookings is about £100 return. The route is popular and therefore the prices stay high. Easyjet from Gatwick can be half the price of the Bristol flight.

I usually fly Easyjet from Bristol to Faro but you can also try Flybe from Exeter, it is usually abaout £10 cheaper than Easyjet during off peak times (they only fly 31st March to 31st Oct) but they only have flights on Tues. Thurs and Sat. as I usually go out once a month for about 4 - 5 days, doesn't always work for me.

I travel from cornwall to faro three times/year and always use easyjet from bristol. They are cheapest from our next of the woods. Flybe are expensive from exeter its the aiport tax that makes it so. Car parking needs to be taken into account as well. At bristol I can park off airport for 1/2 the price of airport parking, exeter is not so easy.

As regular users of the bristol /faro flight readers should be aware that the majority of the " off Airport " carparks have now or will soon be closed .
Local planning infringements ( instigated by the airport !!! ).

This just leaves us with the cramped , ill lit and expensive on site carparks or the advance booking arrangements who require 7 day minimum.
