!. Hardly any rain ( okay we could do with some now )
2. Slower pace of life ( okay it takes awhile to slow yourself down , just take a book to all appointments !!! )
3. No Sainsburys , I hate going back to England and being shoved around in supermarkets. ( intermarche is nowhere near as bad , and most of the staff avery helpful )
4. Great people , who if you give a little give a lot back. You must learn the language , dont feel embaressed about making mistakes , they will help and correct you , and laugh with you not at you.
5. Good old fashioned schools , where kids play , they are not pressured at a young age to get high grades, so much healthier for young ones.
6. less chance of catching a superbug in the hospital. Ive only got praise for the hospitals and medical service after having all of my family members looked after in urgent , and two life threatening situations.
7. Ultra cheap car insurance and road tax. ( just dont bring a car from England and think it will cost you less, you could end up with a big matriculation bill - for info contact afpop in portimao ).
8. Fantastic food , fresh produce , strange sizes and shaped fruit but ultra sweet. The best seafood this side of the Bahamas !
9. Amazing clean beaches , so clean I sold my metal detector , cant even find many ring pulls !

lots of good reasons and 1 bad , according to my good lady wife. RATS. Apparently its enough to put her off for good. Last August in Arios dos Moinhos (excuse the spelling, its late) outside a bar, we could se them across the road. Have never seen them before but that was enough to put the missus right off. And only earlier that day we were looking at a pirce of land in Monchique and were mulling it over so to speak.....rat appears..........no chance of the other 900 good reasons getting a look in.

Car Insurance Cheaper.???????? Where.......(Unless you get TPFT which is what most Portuguese get...but Fully Comp is twice at least more than my UK Insurance........I have tried all the AFPO recommended Agents ...No joy....
And Cars are of course more expensive than anywhere else in Europe with the Illegal Tax........BUT I agree with most other nice points you mention...and there are many more FOR.....and a few against.....

We found our car insurance cheaper here (fully comp) - the same in euros as it used to be in pounds.

Car Insurance.....I just found out it depends on the CC and age and make.....Some cars are much more to Insure here and others are much cheaper.....so you are both right....... It is confusing and little logic.

Car Insurance......I had a 65 percent no claims bonus in England…..came over here and bought a brand new car…..The dealer had an in-house insurance broker who gave me a printout with prices on different policies with different companies……I then showed them a letter of proof of the 65 pc discount and after a lot of hassle phone calls and emails from the broker to different insurance companies…… I got it!
So don’t forget to take with you details on any discount you may have in the UK, and your insurance here will work out a lot cheaper
