Its BIG.

Oh and while I don't really like more large developments is good to see that Pestana didn't get the land themselves to build even more overpriced properties to sell to naive expats who will then be forced to pay extortionate bills until they finally sell their property.

Speaking from experience here.

We overlook this development and were initially very concerned that it would create a scar on the landscape. Having spoken to the people in the sales office it seems that most of the land surrounding the apartments and 20 bed hotel has been or is being bought by Pestana.
They intend to build another golf course and a larger hotel. All of this is subject to planning but they do not anticipate too many difficulties.
Road access will be from the traffic lights before Lagoa and alongside the existing Vale de Pinta course. At the crossroads before you reach Gramacho course there is a dirt track which eventually links to the new back road to Ferragudo, this is where the new hotel is planned.
All the rest of the land adjacent to the new road , on the Sesmarias side not the sea side, is planned for golf course and low density deveopment (villas).
This is all according to a project manager i spoke to at the sales office so may not be totally accurate.
If anybody knows more i'd be interested as well.

Is this the place? If so, they obviously have a quick route through from the airport............

The Pestana Palm Gardens is splendidly sited on a level plateau with views of the sea, close to the picturesque fishing village Carvoeiro and just 10 minutes from Pestana Carvoeiro Golfe (Pinta e Gramacho Courses).

The development comprises 78 'Townhouses', set in five hectares of carefully tended gardens and each equipped to the highest quality standards. Pestana Carvoeiro Golf Courses whitin 5 minutes drive.

Faro International Airport is only 25 minutes away from the Pestana Palm Gardens and the town of Portimo is just 15 km away.

Hi Guest,

I think you describe a different development. Vale D'oliveros comprises 80 one and 2 bed appartments and a 20 bed hotel. Thry are being sold on a timeshare basis only.
Be surprised if you could see the sea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmmmmm ... but on the basis of the airport being so close, he/she might be looking at the same place. I've gone into Google and found what might be the above...

Maybe they're installing their own 'Heli pad' for the elite?..no that'd be much faster than 25 mins :? ....
What is going on in my beloved Algarve?
Is it gonna simply end up as 'Welcome to Golf land'?
How many more courses?
Don't get me wrong ..have some good friends who are 'Golfies'...and my own brothers a keen one... and nothing against the game.. but
its really starting to P--s me off...
I read one of 'Bobs ' posts some time back..of his probs with apart. at P.
was startling but not really surprising as it went on in our time..
Ive 'visited' Pest.(in fact an old friend works there) and some others..and I simply feel Im walking on the set of
'The Prisoner'!
I do realise ..that if it wasn't for Golf half or more of the 'tourism' would disappear ..and that its very important...but nonethe less ..it makes me sad...
Sorry..rambling again...and I prepare for a backlash/lecture :)

Hi Graham,

Have checked your web site and this is not Vale D'oliveiras. It is still coming out of the ground and is at least 18 months from completion. I think vale d'oliveiras has it's own web site !!!!!!

I have dealt with the UK based Sales Department for this development. It is being sold as fractional ownership which for the record is quite different to timeshare. Prices start at 52K upwards same concept as Pestana Golf used next door to sell their apartments. Watch out though the service charges are very high the figures do not really stack up for 13 weeks use.

Hi

Starting to panic. Have booked Casa Jovic in Sesmarias for a nice relaxing holiday.

Are we likely to have a building site close to us. any info would be appreciated
thanks

Hi Liz,

Don't panic! We own a villa in Sesmarias and only occaisionaly hear work going on at the site. It really is too far away and the majority of work seems to be done without noisy machinery.

Have you had your holiday at Casa Jovic? We are considering booking but do not want the Vale de Oliverias building site to be too near. I understand that it is over the other side of the valley and therefore you cannot even see it yet alone hear it.Would appreciate any info.
