It really works. Hope this is not free advertising.
The icon could apear in the last line of this message. Clicking on it would put you on direct voice communication with me for free (assuming you have skipe installed in your PC). Calls for landline numbers (skypeout) are Euro 0,02/min for most countries and for mobiles Euro 0.30/min for most countries.

Ive downloaded this Paramonte..and saved on my desktop!
I really have no idea what Im doing

It says about having a microphone? Do I have to get one for use on this laptop.....okay I know I sound a right plonker....but I haven't a clue!!

Does it mean I can actually 'talk' to folk on here?..desculpa!..ellie

You have to have a microphone and the loudpeakers.
I guess your laptop have this two items integrated on it.
To check out do:
START/PROGRAMES/ACESSORIES/ENTERTAINEMENT/SOUND RECORDER and record some sounds then play them back. Check out if everything is ok. Alternatively you may use the Skype built in ECHO/SOUND TEST SERVICE in which you call a robot that will play back to you.
Best thing is to get a skype handset that plugs to the PC via USB and you use it just like any other phone handset, but this cost around 60 euros.

Once you have this set up we may test it. Just let me know what is your Skype name, so I can find you. Mine is ...guess what: Paramonte

Ill take a look into all that later on...(gotta a couple of hours garden job today)..and Ill also have a word with 'the boss'...perhaps he can guide me with it as well. It sounds fun..being able to talk to folk via laptop..and sure ill let you know if I get it setup okay..
One question..is it ok 'virus wise' doing this..likely to get any problems?I do run a check every day on here..?

H has got it all sorted out and apparently Im on SKYPE now!

Can't afford the 'hand set' at the moment..have baby clothes to buy

But I guess it will work okay without?
Anyway you're on there as Paramonte (do you use your Christian name here on forum..I haven't put it on as you may not want me to)..
Im on as Gardengirl36 (was my favourite age..)
..I expect this will be shifted to Chitchat Para..as its not strictly to do with CVO..
I haven't a clue how this will work..but will be fun having a go..ellie

They pay for it by charging for computer to landline, geographic numbers and commercial applications. I've used Skype for months without pop ups appearing.

Check the post from Aardvark, he is dead right - no adds - no popups - no damage at all. I, like the Aardvark, have used skype daily for several months without problems (I even bought a special USB phone for the purpose) - this one does "exactly what it says on the tin"- it saves you loadsamoney.
