Chicken George

Post by tricky »

On our last visit to CVO, we thought we'd try Chicken George,
and we had a really good time!. The choice is obviously limited,
Chicken, Salad or Fish - but the price was very reasonable and
it made a change. One word of advice, allow at least an hour for
'George' to personally show you all the thousands of photo's of friends and guests he has on his wall! :D

That's interesting - always wondered what this restaurant is like as we pass it regularly. Do you know if it is open all year? Dave.

Hi Dave
Not sure if Chicken George is open all year, but it was the end of October when we last visited. It opens at 6.30, but I don't think its a late night venue, out of season, we were there about 8pm and were the last to leave at 9.30.

Without a doubt George probably serves the best 'chicken and chips' in the area and it is possibly cheaper than cooking at home. Always visit every time we come out

Yes, good old George.
When we've been there we've seen he also does take-away - if you bring your own plate! But I agree with the others - a different type of evening, but good and reasonably priced.

Just off the benagil road, opposite where you would turn right to go to Rocha Brava or Golfemar

Does anyone know when George will be open. I know he has about a month off, either January or February.

We're thinking of giving Chicken George a try when we're out next year. The only thing is, myself and certain other members of our party are easily put off and I was wondering if it's the sort of place where you'd hear shouting outside and then a 4 foot bearded gypsy woman with 1 eye in the middle of her face would come in and blame all the world's problems on my dad as he's chewing on a chicken leg?
