Apologies for the anonymous response earlier. Now you've prompted me to register. I've been visiting the Forum for several weeks and I've enjoyed the banter. So now I've taken the plunge. My reason to visit the site was to get the latest scoop. I will be visiting Carvoeiro in 2 weeks after an absence of nearly 20 years. Chances are I'll notice some changes!!!

Welcome, I am gald you enjoy the banter, there is a quite alot of it about and I am pretty sure that was never Steen's intention for this site but he seems to be very patient with us
I expect you will notice quite a lot of changes after twenty years, were you on holiday the first time you visited? It is still a beautiful place and place so many of us keep going back too. I am sure you will have a wonderful time.

My last visit to cvo was in '84 - we were staying in a villa just outside Armacao de Pera and wandered into Carvoeiro one day. I remember it as a pretty place with a sizeable British ex-pat community. The other thing I remember about that visit was a bar/restaurant/pottery store in Porches on the main drag that had a sardines and sangria night once a week, complete with local musicians. We had a helluva time .. until our brains got pickled with that sangria. I'll have to look and see if that place is still there.
I'm looking forward to the visit (12 - 19 July)and have noted down the "hotspots" from the various recommendations on the Forum.
